Of course. But his cap hit (today) is about 1.3M. With LTIR room, at least two thirds of the league can make that work. And if he's as good as everyone says he is, you make room for him. Yet no one bothered to do so.

Myers' cap hit is less than a million. Same sentiment.

There's two teams at contract maximum, Toronto and Philly. Three more at 49/50. Three additional teams that don't have to LTIR nor the cap to fit Reilly and two of those three can fit neither.

So roughly we're looking at 20-25 teams, many bad teams, who took a look at both and said "meh".

- TheSabresTaco

Of course, but those teams might not have had the injury troubles like the Sabres. And it isn't like we expected them to be top pair, people just wanted better than are 3rd pair, who knows if it works, but it was only money.

I still for the life of me I don't understand why the slapped the C on his chest, an "A" would of been perfectly fine, Many PPL want to extend Okie still... I have wanted him off this team for 4 years.
- hehateme

I have no problem with putting the C on him. Cant put it on a kid as we saw what happened the last time,
he can be here 4 more years..... im sure there is a position on staff he can do

Every team passed on Myers though, it's not like he was claimed by any other team.
- Stripes77

Tampa must have sent out a memo not to touch. Cause the guy can play.

Which is complete validation for not claiming myers.

Facts can be a bit tricky.....

- Boss34

You don't think he'd be an upgrade?

A free upgrade at that...

They only sent him down to make space for Cirelli.

We know it happens.

It's tough, you want to do what's best for your team, but if you piss off the other GM's by snagging guys on waivers that might hurt your team more in the long run.

The Anaheim ducks have a frozen cat turd as a defensive unit and neither of those guys were worth considering.

And no one has the sack to ask why or answer why.

- TheSabresTaco

Maybe they didn't want them, maybe they didn't fit what they wanted. Who knows, don't think anyone said they were great players. Doesn't mean they couldn't have come in and fit here and helped us. All it would have cost is a bit of money to find out. Isn't that what we are supposed to be doing this year, seeing if we can fit pieces together to make us better. Maybe they don't, but maybe we get lucky.

Thats where I see why no one claimed him.

But you cant care, this league has become so soft. GM's are afraid to "piss each other off". It doesnt help us not trying to be better. Your only helping the Tampa's of the league stay better for longer.

Look at Montreal and Carolina, Teams wanna come back to get you and it could bite them in the ass. Kotkaniemi stinks lol

The only players ever claimed anymore are players that have been around the block and back. I.E. Jost.

Players no one else wants.

If its a player of any substance GM's sit on their hands afraid of the future. I find it ridiculous.

Don’t have the Cap (moving forward) for him anyways
- jdfitz77

Yes they do.

Von Millers contract is structured so that next year they can convert to bonus and it cuts his cap hit by 10 million.

Allen can do the same among others.

Yup agreed. With the bonus money. Salary cap is sorta fake and isn’t real.

On top of that the salary cap is going up like $20 million.

Granted it does go fast when you need to figure out a way to keep Poyer (he is needed they are 8-0 when he plays), Edmunds needs to be discussed, and figuring out the OL

Those checks all come due at some point though
I’m all for doing it for the right guy
Is that OBJ ?
I’m not convinced
Dallas supposedly has questions about his health

If it was a 1 year deal, then sure- why not?
A multi year deal is a bit risky though

If it was just for this year, then I’d say it’s a no brainer

He wants a multi-year deal though
So idk?

Dallas who what’s OBJ badly, leaked that OBJ might not be ready until the Super Bowl.

Color me skeptical.

News like that always gets out for a reason

The offense clearly needs another weapon, for me it all depends on how much he is looking for. The fact that he is not working out for teams, yet looking for more than just this year is a bit odd to me. He couldn't be asking for a ton of money. I would sign him now and sit him until training camp to an incentive based deal though.

The salary cap is real, you’re just able to kick the can down the road.

Eventually you have to pay the piper.

Look at the New Orleans Saints.

Well, they lost their borderline HOF coach and their first ballot QB
