Gotta love the way the Sabres are playing.

😀

- Boss34

the offense is so much fun. the team defense (all skaters) isn't good and the goaltending is underwhelming.

For the record I think UPL did fine last night. One bad goal.

Krebs is neither tough nor good at hockey. How many runs at Sabres did SJS make after Dahlin blew that fella up? Some thug ran Krebs three times the next shift! Do you need him to get smashed against the boards and break bones?

Yeah, i'd like a Foligno too. Who wouldn't? I can't find one of them tomorrow. I can protect my multiple star players tomorrow.

Edit: And, FWIW, Z or Okposo needs to make a point of not allowing Krebs to be bullied like that on their line, but they're not exactly putting fear into anybody in the NHL.

- lacaprup

It’s not the 70s anymore dude
You don’t need to “put fear into anyone” to win hockey games now-a-days

I’d u dislike Krebs so much, u shouldn’t care if he gets hurt anyways 🤣🤣🤣

I don’t think you have to be “tough” to be tough to play against
For example, i don’t think Bergeron is any easier to play against than Marchand or Chara
There’s other things u can do besides hitting (or physical play in general) that can make u tough to play against- for example, u could be a great forechecker, or u could play great positional defense, or u could be great with your stick, etc etc etc

People here seem to get so wrapped up in “physical play” like we’ll suddenly be tougher to play against if we add Ryan Reeves or some clown who’s good in after the whistle scrums, or someone who’ll throw a punch so “Dahlin doesn’t have to”
I just don’t subscribe to any of that actually helping the Sabres win games

And if that’s not what they mean, then they should stop using ridiculous examples like that over & over & over

- jdfitz77

no you don't need to be tough or tuff to be difficult to play against. The Sabres are still a little doughy as a unit and honestly if I could I'd swap Mitts and Marcus Foligno right this second.

I need names. Who is saying that.

If you’re going to call them out I NEED NAMES.

Lacaprup & Boss are on here regularly doing it
36 has been a proponent of hitting lately
Etc etc etc

See: it’s really not that hard to just say who you’re talking about when asked

There is a pretty good chance that the Chiefs win out, but I'm holding out hope that division games often provide weird results, and they end up dropping a game they shouldn't. Hopefully, the Bills already did that with the Jets game.
- buffalofan19

Agreed
Sure would be nice if the Broncos pull off an upset
Raiders often give the Chiefs trouble, but KC will be a heavy favorite in the rest of their games

Maybe we’ll get lucky though?

donnie said in the post game interview that they do not need to look to make hits, but when it is there and lined up, finish it

so even the coach thinks some hits are needed

Yes I am a proponent of hitting and making it hard on other teams. That doesn't mean a knuckle dragger. I don't care if they get 10 or 30 hits, just make them count. We don't make D man pay for retrieving the puck, atleast make him look over his shoulder. Don't turn away from hits and poke check(Olofsson). It's like being at the beach playing the Sabres most nights.

Folingno is 31
2 years at over 3 million

Coming off a career year

Cost would be higher than what he's really worth

- Anderdog

I was just using him as an example of a guy who is physical, AND can play hockey
Like i said before, i don’t think Minny would move him

I don't really care how they handle business, but I want to be the team where other teams don't (frank) around because they don't want to find out.

Yeah, he is in the right track. I mean the Sabres are 1st or 2 in goals scored per game.

So finding a goalie and figuring out the olofsson mitts line shouldn’t be rocket science

Like I mentioned before. Chick-run could fix our entire defense.

Moving joker and bush to 3rd pair would be solid

Bryson and Fitzgerald are not the answer. Pilut doesn’t play enough to notice what he does or doesn’t do.

- Sabretooth9

I couldn’t disagree more, and i like Chychrun as a player

We don’t need to find Power a “star” like Chychrun to play with, just find him his “Samuelsson”

“They have a lot of swagger right now,” defenseman Rasmus Dahlin said. “It’s amazing to watch. You saw in the AHL what they accomplished down there. They’re just going to continue to grow. They’re just starting in this league and they’re already doing the things they’re doing. I actually can’t wait for the future.”

Sounds like dahlin would love to see it through....

. Dahlin also had what may have been the hit of the Sabres’ season Sunday. In the second period, he lined up Matt Nieto in the defensive zone and dropped him with a clean body check.

“That’s one of the biggest hits I’ve seen in a while,” Samuelsson said. “For how skilled he is and how talented he is, for him to have that in his game too, it’s pretty impressive and I think it gave us all a boost. I mean, I don’t know how many players in the league are actually like that. It’s pretty special. To see the stuff he does with the puck and then be able to hit someone like that...

I guess hitting gives the team a "boost"

No big suprise....

That’s a reasonable trade
It’s the trade “Mitts for a 3rd & a 5th” crowd i have an issue with
Especially when they wanna bring in a 4th liner as his lineup replacement

I sat behind the net last night.

Glove hand is the obvious target. Upl played good.
Couple good NHL shots .....

Agree, maybe should have saved the 3rd one...

I’d rather we worry more about scoring goals & keeping goals outta the net then trying to be intimidating or some nonsense
Hockey isn’t played on the back alley

Fair enough
I haven’t watched Minny play this year
But if he is regressing, than I’d say we should steer clear

That PP goal, I think the 2nd goal, all 4 pk'ers on one side of the ice, coulda thrown a blanket over 'em, absolute snipe over the glove hand though, looks to be his biggest weakness

June 19, 2031 (Tempe, AZ)

"Sabres head coach Nick Bjugstad was effusive in his praise for captain Zemgus Girgensons following game 7.

'Simply put, there would be no parade if not for Gus,' Bjugstad said

Forward Mark Pysyk, who scored the cup-winning goal against the Coyotes, echoed that sentiment.

'Gus was on fire.'"

Big difference is that we had a 2nd line then,
& now the kids are the 2nd line

Vanek-Roy-Pommer we’re also never really a line for an extended time

In 05-06, they all bounced around the lineup
In 06-07, Vanek-Roy-Afinogenov dominated as our 3rd line and Pominville played RW with Briere & Hecht
