He’s been better….but honestly when you trade what they did, then sign him to that contract , over all he’s been a disappointment. The guy put up 4 seasons of 40 plus points…where’s that guy? Why no opportunity on the PP? Can’t keep blaming the team….if the Flyers just want to change him into this defensive d man, that he’s never been, then I don’t see how anyone could see a fit? Last year and now. This is just another symptom to what ails the Flyers.

I thought going into this season that Torts and Shaw would make him at least serviceable and to their credit they seem to have done so. He will never be a 40+ point type of defenseman since to do so meant he was a significantly minus player. At least now he seems to have simplified his game and is doing a much better job winning battles and not taking himself out of position. That's the best the Flyers will get for their $5.1M .. what a joke Fletcher is!

I think it would be a BIG mistake to move Briere into the GM role right now. He has really just dipped his toes into the GM role for about 1 year now, he needs more time to GM at the minor league level and be the assistant GM for the Flyers. If I were the Flyers, I would hire Stacey Roest from Tampa as the GM and let Briere serve as assistant under him for 4 years or so. Then when the time comes Briere can move into the role. The one thing we can all agree on however if moving Fletcher as far from the role is the best possible thing to do at this point.

There are good traits to his game…but take away all his offensive game and you have a 2 mil a year d man. If they aren’t going to use him, at all, that way…then there’s no need for him to be here…plain and simple.

That's exactly right, the type of defenseman Risto is now is something you can get for $2-3M per season, therefore there was never a reason to panic and resign Risto last season. Fletcher is an ass-clown!

just looking for the kids to play well, for vets to raise value and a top 3 pick.

They just don't have the skill to play the Tampa's of the league. Example, the PP usually struggles to even get into the zone, finally you had TK, Tip and Frost hitting the zone with speed and they actually had zone entry and set up. This is where the talent level comes in, Cates who I really like, at least twice rushed a pass into traffic after zone entry, boom, the puck went the other way. Then Laughton, same thing and others. Who knows, maybe Cates will grow into the position but what is more likely is they are asking players to take on PP time who should not.

Let it roll, give them the experience, you hope after the TDL Torts has a good idea of who fits where and they can give the players they are going to keep the best chance at success.

Interesting question posed by the “The Best Show Ever” radio guys at NBC Philly yesterday. Are Flyers fans too loyal to send a message to ownership about their unhappiness regarding the state of the team?

Can’t defend the Macewan nonsense even though he’s giving 100% every night. We all knew ND was going to play, so being surprised about that doesn’t make sense. He’s actually put Frost in a good spot to make an impact the past 5 games. Cates plays a lot. Bit of a give and take. York sucked in pre season, really sucked. No idea how he was playing now.

How many GM's can go from putting a team on a path to the Stanley Cup and changing the culture of the team. To now being labeled a joke and an ass-clown. In less than two years? That's talent

I think Tippett can be a 20 goal scorer in this league, but he needs a good center with him. This team is just devoid of talent at center right now. The team has some good to decent wingers - TK, Farabee, Cates, Tippett, but without centers these guys are really hampered. Remember when the Flyers were top 3 in faceoff %. Good times.

The point was related to Torts comment regarding getting Z into games and letting him develop in the NHL. The implication being that York is NOT the one chosen to develop in the NHL. It's what was NOT said that was the eye opener.

You should listen to that podcast. They don't post a lot, maybe once a week, but they're usually very good. Cohen, San Filipo, and Bundy. They also post on YT. Here's the link.

Thanks. It really was on York why he didn’t make the team, he literally played himself out of that spot. Can’t speak on York v Zamula call up because I don’t watch AHL
