Can’t wait for the 12 game losing streak - shvingter88
No need to wait. Just watch Buffalo. Sabers are on an 8 game skid-fest.
Btw, we play them Friday. It’s super unlikely our winning streak and their losing streak will be intact when we meet.... but how screwed up would that be???
Obviously both streaks would have to end at that point followed by the apocalypse. |

We're still seeing the effects of what having competent goaltending does for a team.
The lines are much more well rounded this season too, even with the Palat injury. Tatar and Zetterlund have been playing fantastic with Hischier. Hughes and Bratt are still producing even though I think they might want to move things around there still. It seems like Palat would slot in for Haula with Hughes and maybe have a 3rd line of Bovist, Haula, and Sharangovich. But it's nice to have contributions from all over the lineup and seeing a lot of players mature into their roles. |

Lots to be excited about. With Hughes, Nemec, and Holtz all potentially being massive additions in the near future too boot. When Palat eventually returns Tatar may find himself on the 4th line. Zetterlund, Bastian, and Boqvist are all playing so strong right now. Having a bottom six skating the way these boys have been has worn everyone down. Keep those feet moving fellas!
While I did not hesitate to question the Smith/Marino trade, I am sure eating crow. This guy has snuffed out so many chances for the opposition and quitely transitioned that puck up the ice. Adding Marino, and taking out Smith and Subban has completely changed this D-core. I was never a Marino hater, but with Dougie/Sevo/Nemec/Walsh, I didn't see the point. My bad.

Personally I think having smith learn from pk ruined his career |

That's what you're eating crow for? Not for completely poopting on Nico for not being competitive and saying he didn't deserve to be the captain? Well then. |

That Tatar goal was a thing of beauty. |

If you’re referring to me, I never said Nico wasn’t competitive. I was saying he wasn’t a dominant true #1 center. His play this year is the level that I was referring to as being what was missing last year. I’ve said it before, I’ve always liked the kid but wished he was more dominant for being 1st overall. This season is what I’ve been hoping to see, and I’m not eating crow, because I don’t think I was saying anything contrary to reality. I’m loving every minute of his ascendence.
Re-sign Tatar for 2 years??
Maybe this sounds crazy, but tonight I had a similar feeling that I used to have with the pre-late 2000s Devils.. that they were a great team, great franchise, respect to them, etc. All I knew during my childhood and teens was Devils dominance.. being a .600 team or greater every season.. never a question of if they were on the playoffs, but if they would be winning the division or conference. Its been so SO long since I’ve felt what I didn’t realize I had been missing from hockey. Getting back to greatness.. back to being excited to root for the team, instead of rooting for development while being okay with being -2 points closer to a top pick. This is fun. |

Wasn't referring to you. Was referring to the guy I literally quoted. The one who said it was a mistake naming Nico captain and harped on and on about how he wasn't a good leader and didn't 'play like captain should'. |

It took Lindy a long time to move Tatar up in the lineup because he was basically stapled to the 3rd line last year. He's definitely playing a lot better this year and probably should've been playing with Hischier much more last year than he did.
There was an interesting decision to move Zetterlund down in the lineup and move Mercer up with Hischier which obviously worked out really well in results. I found it interesting at the time because I thought the idea was to move players around to be more responsible against Edmonton's top lines but then the 3rd line (Boqvist/Shara/Zetterlund) was out against McDavid a lot anyway. |

No. I stand by that. Nico was not a good leader. Its no secret that he leaned on all the vets for support, and had some terrible body languge throughout the last few seasons. I don't think I was off on that. Nico was thrust into captaincy too early. He was not the leader on the ice, nor the vocal presence in the locker room. But luckily, time and experience can change that about a young man.
It is nice to see him growing into the role, and he is certainly poised for a breakout season. I also referenced him as Bergeron 2.0 for 4 years but I guess that got lost in the mix. Keep your opinionless posts coming Vlongo. Nothing like getting ripped by you for having an original though on a BLOG. Haha. Thought you might let a post slide in lieu of this heater we are on.
