I'd do Greig for Chychrun straight up with a second and third round pick as sweeteners. Don't really want an offensive LD.

Fair enough. He has played a good amount of games on the right side, but he's a left shot. Many have suggested if Greig's game isn't sustainable at the NHL level, look how much he's injured at the AHL level now. Definitely worth watching.

I would not be averse to trading Greig but not stupidly.

Ditto on that! Then there's the elephant in the room, Formenton. Not a single word by anyone in the Sens org....stone cold silence. It would be nice if someone would ask PD about this. Dec. 1st is coming fast! 1 week away!

Two 1st round picks and a top prospect for Chychrun.....no longer 4 pieces as I mentioned late in the summer.....if PD trades 2024 and 2025 picks along with Greig, would you do it Sens fans?!
- Kevin Francis

Chychrun is not worth it! He is injury prone and it is questionable why any team would pay such a high price for him. Unfortunately, thanks to PD and DJ, Ottawa is once again a bottom feeder in November. They both have to go!

To the board in charge, please don’t let Pierre make a Hail Mary trade to try and keep his job! Take the high draft pick, the new owners will be in a bidding war with this surprise present!

not with OTTs first they are all going to be top 10 as long as DJ is HC, if Chych is still available when OTT trades chabot after he demands to be traded out of the poop show OTT is then uise those first to get chych

Pretty good first period by Ottawa. But when betting against ottawa this year this team tends to have one good period then blow it later

It's getting difficult to listen to the post game show anymore. That Creecher fellow really hates Chabot and never fails to rag on him even when he's not even playing.

He also has now set his sites on Thomson blaming him for the second and third goals. He says Thomson got walked on the second goal. No he didn't. Thomson was trying to cover for Holden who had gone off to sign some autographs in the stands.

Then there's the third goal. How is that Thomson's fault. That's all on Talbot who apparently was surprised that an attacking forward would actually take a shot on net.

This Creecher creature really loves Sanderson though. He praises Sanderson to the heavens while completely overlooking the many defensive mistakes that Sanderson is responsible for in every game. If Chabot had made even one of those mistakes that's all we'd hear from Creecher "Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot Chabot" on and on and on. I like Sanderson and think he will be a great D for many years to come but to suggest that he's Ottawa's best Dman is just out and out stupid. Maybe one day but certainly not yet.

That Creecher fellow is not alone. That whole crew at TSN babble this kind of nonsense constantly. DeBrincat is another example of how these guys are doubling down on an idea even though there is no empirical reason to do so and for some reason or other the whole DeBrincat situation kind of reminds me of that joke about how a Chihuahua can actually kill a German Shepherd because he gets stuck in his throat.

It's a tough job to have to talk and talk every day for sometimes hours on end so to play it safe you just pick up on what most people seem to be saying and repeat it as often as you can to fill up the air time.

Anyway I feel the same kind of apprehension as some others on here that Dorion may do something really dumb. I was listening to some podcast though and they were saying that the rule of thumb when involved in a sale situation is not to make any long term commitments on any level in the organization so I'm hoping that proves to be true and Dorion will not be permitted to do anything really stupid in that regard but unfortunately he can still trade away the future.

I would wait to see how he plays before pulling the trigger - without question. Like that it's not 2023.

Alex Formenton likely has played his last game with the Sens. If he gets signed, I can see him playing only this year. The investigation HAS to be part of this

I think we are getting safe on the time line. December 1 is the critical date. The books will be opened for inspection by investors who are deemed to be sufficiently serious bidders by the New York based sports marketing agent representing the Melnyk family. Typically, the sale of any enterprise assumes the vendor will not make material changes to the assets or incur significant new liabilities during the period of negotiation other than in the normal course of business.

Think of it as being a transition similar to your selling your house. Once you put it on the market you don't make any material changes unless they would be consistent with the expectations of prospective buyers.

Right now, potential new owners are probably pretty excited by the vision of a talented young team on the rise, a new building and the prospect of adding another top 3 draft pick from an elite draft. The fact this young Sens is struggling this year actually works for them rather than against them when it comes to the sale of the team.

Can you imagine the intense hostile reaction of the sports marketing agent and Bettman (plus all the owners he represents) if Dorion were to trade that first round draft pick on November 30 for a veteran Dman. The entire Board of Governors is vested in the proposition that the Sens sell for the maximum price possible. I don't think Dorion will be allowed to do anything dumb.

It’s pretty simple we need one of our goalies to stand up and say OK! I’m gonna be the #1 goalie on this team and start winning games way too many soft goals until then there is no point in trading for anyone they are not gonna make playoffs anyways ride it out
DJ needs to try these pairing

Statistically Talbot played well last night.
Problem is Thompson played gangbusters. Last 5 games opposing team save %:
.975
.974
.962
.933
.947
The last time an opposing goalie laid an egg against the Sens was the win vs Philly when Carter Hart posted an .885. This either speaks to poor shot quality from the Sens, or terrible luck.

And yet they both let in goals that should be saved like that 3rd goal 🤷‍♂️

At this point it would be highly questionable to trade their 1st round pick in 2023, even if lottery-protected... right now it would be a top-5 pick regardless. It really seems that the team is in a major freeze as the ownership issue gets resolved. There's no excuse otherwise for the lack of action on the D front, especially when you consider that a guy like Ethan Bear went for a song to another team in dire need of a D-man. Not an ideal solution by any stretch, but I'll take a low-risk action that vaguely resembles engagement vs. sitting on hands and quietly watching the season die.

Similarly, much as I like Brady Tkachuk I had to give a major eye-roll to his comments about not liking the crowd booing and calling for DJ to be fired. It falls even more flat when the players back it up with nothing more than a pair of disappointing losses. It's a team built to outscore their problems, and they've now lost 4 of their last 5 games by scores of 4-2, 4-1, 5-1, and 4-1. DeBrincat is scoring at 1/2 his career shooting %, Batherson is a league-worst -15, Pinto hasn't scored in the month of November, Joseph & Brassard have done virtually nothing, Chabot was being outscored by Sanderson even before he was injured, and Brannstrom has the same # points as Holden. Talk without action is useless.

For reference, this is what a team looks like that starts playing hard and getting results for their coach...

Fair enough, problem is the Sens have faced goalies just as capable of letting in soft goals, but have more often than not found them on their game. Ottawa's netminders have played statistically well enough to give this team a chance to win on a number of occasions this season, but each time that's happened it's like there's a brick wall in the opposing net.

I mentioned during the off-season that i wouldn't be surprised if DeBrincat's numbers regressed with the Sens without Kane feeding him. He's putting up more points than i thought he would but his scoring is way down. He's on pace for 20 goals. I don't know if his assists are 1st or 2nd mostly because i haven't watched a lot of the Sens game with them always playing at the same time as the Wings this season and i haven't looked up the stat.

Right now it looks like the better play for Dorion would have been to keep his draft pick and sign Kubalik like the Wings did. DeBrincat 5 goals, 10 assists in 19 games and a -7 for 6.4 million for this season. Kubalik 9 goals, 12 assists in 19 games and a +5 for 2.5 million for this season and next. Kubalik has been one of the Wings best players this season especially with them missing Bertuzzi and Vrana for most of the start of the season. He has to be one of the top 5 bargain/signings of the off-season.

I remember being surprised at the quick release and deadly accuracy of Pinto's shot the first part of this season but of late I haven't seen any of that. Same with Tkachuk and Batherson. They're just either fanning on their shots or shooting wide of the net or sending weak, predictable shots to the goalies pads or blocker or crest. DeBrincat has just been a really bad joke. Tons of grade A 10 bell setups and nada. I sometimes wonder if he's got some kind of shooter's virus that has slowly infected the rest of the team.

Same from the D. We know that Chabot doesn't have a cannon of a shot but neither do any of the other D except for maybe Hamonic. I heard that Sanderson had a great shot but I haven't seen anything like that to this point. He and Brannstrom both struggle to get their shots to even reach the net if they don't just get blocked first.

Opposing goalies are not all suddenly that good when they play Ottawa. This team's shooters are making it easy for them.

I remember when Chara first came up and he had that pathetic shot that couldn't reach the net from the point and I remember that he spent the whole summer working on it and when the next season started he surprised the hell out of everyone with his blasts from the point.

I would force every D man on this team to spend their entire summer in 2023 working on their shot. I would tell Tkachuk to take skating lessons from their skating coach who is supposed to be very good. He would be so much better a player if he worked on his edges.

1. It was inevitable that DeBrincat was going to need time to adjust (both without Kane AND adjusting to new teammates)

2. It is VERY early, lets revisit after the winter

3. The Sens traded the 7th and 39th picks. Certainly not a small price to pay, but how many plays can score like DeBrincat? 15-20 max in the league?

My issue with DeBrincat was his size, his possible 1 dimensional play (goal scoring like Heatley was in Ottawa), and of course his contract status. I will say these all concern me more than his goal scoring. Over the course of him he will score more goals than Kubalik but the other areas of the game I'm not familiar with Kubalik's game to be honest.

Take the best 2 D-man and arguably #1 center off a team and they will likely suffer a lot. Take it off the Sens (in particular the D) - coupled with DJ Smith possibly - and no wonder their in the basement !!

Bruins were without Marchand for 8 games, Grzelcyk for 4 games top 3 defender, McAvoy first 13 games, top defenseman. But they survived it. Caps were without 5 of their top 9 forwards for half dozen games or more.....Vegas is without Lehner and Brossoit their top 2 goaltenders from last year....teams all deal with injuries.

Creecher is awful on the postgame show, very selective what he says about certain players....very subjective!
