Hains: Pregame: Petry's Return

Tonight, the Canadiens will welcome former Habs Jeff Petry and Ryan Poehling as their Penguins take on the Habs at the Bell Centre.

I don't think they know what to do with Slaf, in the sense that they have all these forwards clogging up the line-up... Drouin, Hoffman (and eventually Armia).

It is a juggling act that will continue all season.

So he is just being slotted in wherever they can fit him. It looks pretty obvious that Slaf is going down to Laval whenever Armia is back. There is no point in having Slaf play 4th line duty, in a role he is not projected to play in the NHL.

Send him to Laval already, let him grow, learn and dominate, then bring him back in a top 6 role.

Agreed.

And Pitlick needs to be in the lineup instead of one of Hoffman, Dadonov or Drouin.

Let these bums rotate until they finally leave.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Slaf will get 9 games, and unless he lights the team on fire, he'll be in Laval after that.
When he goes, I'd prefer to see the Pezz Dispenser and his sick flow on that 4th line. As long as the DDH trio exists, we need someone with some heart, to bring a spark.

And that hat! Damn!

I've said it before, there's no 10 games for Slaf. his pro contract kicks in this year, wether he plays in Mtl or Laval. he can play 3, 10 or 13 games in Mtl it doesn't matter.
the 10 games thing is for players who go back to junior.

agreed. add Armia to this list. looks like Dadonov can be useful on the PK though.

I don't mind Dadonov, tbh, but he becomes redundant when Armia is back (or Armia remains redundant).

And I really like Pitlick, he brings more of an 200-foot game that is suited for any role, where Drouin and Hoffman are so 1 dimensional (and not even that good at their dimension anymore), that having both in the line up is a waste.

But we knew going into the season that have all 3 of Drouin, Hoffman and Armia was going to be a logistical nightmare.

At some point, something has to give, I cannot see this lasting all season.

really? I don't see how it could be otherwise. maybe at the tdl some will go, but not before that. if everybody is healthy Slaf goes to Laval imo. the sooner the better.

Wow, who's that Mike Hoffman guy? Never heard of him! He just had a pretty good shift, maybe he's good!

I always love when the guys on the radio talk about what a guy like Hoffman brings to a team and they always mention "You can stick him on the second PP." Ah yes, the second PP unit. Always key to victory.

I suspect someone will be waived and sent to Laval, worse case scenario.

Problem gone, no more discussions about Drouin, Hoffman and Dandonov, team can focus on other things like the adaptation of Fantilli to the NHL.
