How was Jan Rutta (note it's Rutta, not Ruuta) a big part of this teams glory over the past few years?? He was a 3rd pair guy often getting 10-12 minutes a night, when he's even in the lineup. If I was going to mention a player Tampa might miss, perhaps Ondrej Palat?
How is Toronto's defense better than say...last year. It's the same 6 guys!! And now guys like Giordano (age 39) and Muzzin (age 33 and made of glass) and Brodie (age 32) have more mileage. Holl is 30. Rielly is 28. They aren't getting better. I guess Rasmus Sandin has more experience so should improve upon last year. But somehow as a group they are better? Good analysis.
Also, this is a gem - "Tkachuk is not Huberdeau and that can work for them or against them. I believe it works for them moving forward".

Caufield will do that to ya, he makes goalies look bad. Dadonov choked the game late for them and they still persevered in regulation no less. With all that youth in the lineup and against what is supposed to be a Stanley Cup contender as a +220 dog it's a nice way to kick off the year.
Leaf fans are already in shambles it's great to have hockey back.....
We will be that high now that we don't have Matt Murray between the pipes every second game. OMG, greatest trade ever, almost on par with the Nick Paul deal turned out after last year's playoffs.
This OTT team is one defenceman away from being able to not just make the playoffs, but maybe even win a round. Laugh all you want, we'll see how it turns out in April.

Murray has been an AHL caliber goalie for several years straight now. Making him a starter on a contender is utterly brain dead. I would fully expect him to lose Toronto many games and lose his job by January.
