I made ice cream - interesting. I could only eat a bit at a time but enjoyed. Roasting them is easy. You can do it for some. Makes them a bit milder and suitable in more recipes. I’m going to try the soup. But you can add them to hummus or guacamole or even toasted cheese sammiches. There’s a bunch of recipes on here

100 years ago, when I went to Queens, you had to take a 12 month lease for housing in the student ghetto - May 1 to April 30.
So on the summer long weekends, me and my friends would head up and spend three days being the worst possible young men we could possibly be.
One Saturday night, we spent the early evening at our house. We left for the bar, leaving a horrid mess of empty beer bottles, chip bags - and porn. Somebody had ripped the magazine apart, and taped pictures all over the house.
We roll back in at around 3 a.m., and one of my female housemates comes running out to warn us - another housemate’s parents had decided to stay the night on their way hime from Montreal.
With their young children.
And they had cleaned the entire house, and removed all the pictures.
They left VERY early the next morning, so I didn’t have to deal with them.
Kinda ruined the relationship with the housemate, but frank him. He was a loser, and what the frank were his parents thinking?
My buddies still mention it about once a year. - Atomic Wedgie
Oh. Yeah. That's the worst. We had something sort of similar - the same buddy I was mentioning with the pea soup had this girl he was seeing and she was sort of . . .off. Hot and all, but off. She was often naked. Just hanging out in the living room. Sitting on the couch. Naked. Obviously I didn't mind that much, but my girlfriend was extremely perturbed by it. Sincerely I think she would get stoned and then get hot. But I couldn't tell you. We lived in different a house a few months later, and I came home from work and she was naked in the foyer and the house was like 30 degrees celsius. She'd taken off her clothes, gotten cold, and cranked the thermostat. I mean, crazy is crazy.
Anyway, I digress - we lived for a while in an apartment with another guy, and he just showed up with his mom out of the blue. They walk in, see my friend's girlfriend naked, lying on the couch, crotch up to the ceiling, watching TV and promptly do a 180 and leave without a word.
We don't talk to that guy anymore either.

Yep. Eyetalian with good fresh ingredients rules. Local store sells very nice, very fresh Romas by the bushel. They’re all in the freezer in ziplock baggies with garlic and chilli pepper and basil nicely sauced up. Simple is good.

I've made sauce a zillion times and have started doing the one where you just simmer two onion halves and a spoon of butter in tomato puree for an hour. Herbs, season, remove onion. Done. |

Fries and gravy. Yum.
Habitant Pea Soup with ham. Yum.
Kaiser roll and pemeal (sp?) sandwich. Yum.
Harvey's Burgers. Yum.
Canadian McChicken's, with the sauce that is different than US-just plain mayo, and vinegar packets for my McDs french fries. Yum.
All things you can't get here in the US. (well I can get gravy for fries sometimes but not as normal as in Canada).
Johnny's Burgers. FRANK YA!!!! |

Lady friend might have a free hotel in Chicago for two days and I could come along. Is it worth hanging out in Chicago for two days with no plans, and also how much of a botheration is it to get a passport renewed this days?
Thanks from your Leafy friend,

It’s amazing how little you have to do to get something decent down your into your tum tum.
Brown butter and parm with pasta. Heat the butter for 3 or 4 minutes till it turns brown and gets a nice nutty smell. Add some parm till melted. Add the pasta with pasta water and pepper.
Or midnight pasta - whatever you have lying around: garlic, peppers, olives |

I used to want to put everything into food. Now I'm going more and more simple. Aglio ad olio is in my top 5 all-time for sure.

I'm curious about have a hot dog in Chicago. But I've heard the passport situation is super lame these days. As a Leafs fan my tolerance for discomfort in the root chakra area is superhuman; however I've learned to pick my battles. On the other hand, I'd be in for some loving. I might have to venture into the Blackhawks thread and see what those fine ice hockey enthusiasts recommend in their dynamic city.

Chicago is an original 6 hockey town, and tourism there during the NHL season is very much apropos my dude.
Furthermore, one needs to eat food in order to live and watch hockey. For example, spaghetti and meatballs while watching the Leafs. - Zezel
don't forget the garlic bread w/cheese and beer or wine. |

Tons of great stuff to do in a couple days in Chicago but your passport will be a problem. Architecture boat tour a good thing to do. Wandering dt. Great food scene. Will be very pricey with current exchange. |

Is losing in the first round again considered staying on the rails?

No, off the rails is more like winning the draft lottery and picking the wrong guy.
