ZAR should get a contract. He is probably better than Aube Kubel and maybe his thought process is to try and get some term from a team.
Leafs should sign him 2X1M-1.2M
All things considered it was a good offseason, hoping for a big swing at the TDL. its time. - Santo_44
I hope he does.. I know his offense is limited, but he's like a fireball on the ice and is strong on the forecheck and can be physical

I can’t see them starting with that second line. If Kerfoot stays, maybe Willie and Jarnrok switch. I think little Nickie only makes the roster if Kerfoot goes or if he amazes in camp. They’re already going to have to expose enough guys to waivers and if he’s on the roster then they’re going to lose someone they probably really don’t want to lose. - Canada Cup
I think they are going to have to lose a guy or 2 from waivers.
Maybe that's Holl as well, which would offer enough relief to keep a guy or 2 on the roster.

Nick Suzuki with the C?
Seems like a lot of pressure on a young guy, coming off a so so year. - bryant

So is the other 3 name guy. Aube-Kubel is probably a bit quicker. Keep them both |

Love Spezza but him on the 4th line made it hard to build an energy 4th line, which you still take Spezza on the team because he is an asset on the PP.
But ZAR-Gaudette-Aube-Kubel
Are going to be reliable and the 2 wingers had over 500 hits between them last season.
Pretty obvious the identity they are trying to create for that 4th line.
Douglas and Holmberg are options for C as well. |

I'm guessing that may of you are in the same headspace as I am today - unable to work, with such strong emotions about the death of our sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II.
Obviously, we all need next Monday off to properly mourn.
Get 'er done, Justin.

In my opinion Liljegren is the better more reliable dman. He’s bigger and stronger and better defensively which is what Leafs need from d. forwards are offensive enough. Lili can make a play and move up puck just fine.
Sandin has those Jake Gardiner moments that would make me nervous…brain cramps with the puck.
Sandin - 88gp 6g 22a 28pts
Liljegren - 74gp 5g 19a 24pts - Big23Questions

Meh, he's already led the team to a Stanley cup final as it's best scorer, he's embraced the city of Montreal living here full time and he's the centre piece of our rebuild moving forward.
It was either him or a Captain that would leave in a year or two until they eventually named him.
It's a good choice imho.

I think so, ZAR-Gaudette-NAK would be a really good 4th line.. The 3rd line can be defensively responsible with Kampf and Jarnkrok |

Sandin doesn't have any leverage.
Leafs don't have a hole on D.
He'll sign 1x1M or 3x2m I think. - Santo_44

I loved Spezza and Simmonds, but the game has passed them by.. To be honest, I don't see how Simmonds, or even Clifford, has a spot on this team anymore.. Maybe Simmonds as the 13th forward, but not a full time spot.

The reason I responded to that post is because of what his response was to. He bolded- "Sandin has done little more than Liljegren" in the post he quoted. And he is correct. Because Liljegren, despite getting much less opportunity than Sandin, has outperformed him. |

That might help him get picked up off waivers. I can’t see him starting the season with the Leafs. They’ve brought in too many better “Simmondses” |

All his comps are signing for 1x1, 2x1.4 or 3x2.25ish. I doubt it's the $$ in dispute ...more the term.
It may be the Leafs don't have a 1 yr offer on the table ...trying to force him to sign for 2 like Lilly ...maybe. And he probably prefers the 1 yr show me so he can get to Arb next summer and gain some leverage. |

Ya, I don't mind that either. Just give them a role (defense and finish checks) and let the top 6 do all the scoring. Having a 3rd and 4th line that can defend well lets them really shelter the JT line too. |
