I think it's fair value, for Mange it lines up with comparable players. Treliving's big rookie gm mistake was going to the media and bragging that he signed Brodie to a "good contract".. I wouldn't be surprised if that's playing into what might be going on in Calgary... |

My issue with the signing is the Flames arent learning from previous mistakes. If the breadman is a homegrown product and you want him around long term, Tree should have signed him to 6 years while he is in his prime. Pretty sure 6 yrs at 36 mil would be a steal. Instead, 3 years from now, we wont be able to sign him because he will be looking for 8. Dont get me wrong, i like the signing but its short sighted. If you look at how the Flames played #19's contract and then look at how the Sens handled Brady's contract... the Flames dropped the ball with Tkachuk 3 years ago. This feels similar in a sense. |

He was open to long term, but we fall into that trap again. Kylington 2 years, Bread 3 years. Does that mean we offer Hubie 3 years?

I remember two years ago the Flames blogger was saying the Flames should lock up Mange long term ... that would have been genius. Now coming off a career year, 3 years seems like the smart thing. I like Mangepane but everything seemed to be going in last year. This seems like a good time to go shorter term |

Pretty sure his prime was in December to now and will probably continue on this year. If I am wrong and he scores 40 this year we got a great deal, he will probably plateau some and everyone will be screaming: Whats wrong with him, I am quite content at 25-30 goals thats tons for this guy especially on this contract. Time will tell with luck one of the 3 years will be about 19 goals then we can extend again for a little bit less. Chances are this will be a win for the flames. |

What sources are reporting just over $6M?? I see 3 different sources all saying $5.8M x 3 years. Minor detail I guess. Just like spelling his name Mangipane instead of Mangiapane.
I'm curious how close he was to signing an offer sheet. The rumour was that the Pens were going to sign him, even though they didn't have the draft picks to make that work. But maybe there were other teams too. We'll never know probably. I bet Philly was involved. Maybe Montreal. NYI. NYR. Nashville. Toronto. The usual suspects. - Cooleus
Usual suspects? Do you mean for offer sheets? You do know only Montreal offered sheeted in your list over the past 10 years. Calgary did it in 2013.

I guess Calgary didn’t get the memo that they weren’t allowed to sign anyone until Lameriello announced we signed Kadri. |

Since 2012 there have been offer sheets for Shea Webber (Flyers), O’Reilly (Flames), Ah0 (Habs), and Kotkaniemi (Canes) |

I don't think Mange was available for offer sheet after filing for arbitration

The guy/gal you responded to changed his/her screen name numerous times in an attempt to troll EK as subtly as possible and avoid bans. His/her post you responded to makes reference to a number of Ek's prior...calls that haven't come to fruition. You're new here so I assume you took his/her comment seriously. |

I think more than 6M AVV is too big, you should reconsider the cost and eliminate unnecessary expenses. the impossible quiz |
