Joel Quennville wasn't much of a player and Derek King had a good NHL career. Who's the better coach? - GPHawksfan
They are equal - it's all about the talent they have

Brilliant!, Why didn’t you apply for the GM position? - paulr
I was asking for Paul money and got turned down, should have toned it down to MO’s salary. |

Could be it, I was asking for minimum wage and a 10% stake in Binnys. Mo asked for a case of Earl Settler Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. |

Exactly, the Hawks should trade for McDonagh, sign E Kane, MAF, and trade all of our picks for veterans. - Angotti
Didn't Toronto win their last Stanley Cup in '67 with a bunch of old vets they brought back off the scrap heap?
No, they didn't trade draft picks for the guys. |

Do you have another example in the last 55 years? |

With what picks or prospects? They've traded all their firsts until 2025 and don't have many good prospects left either. - GPHawksfan
Have a happy Canada Day.

Maybe the ‘94 Rangers? I don’t recall any young ones on that team, but then again I’m old and according to my wife going senile. |

Flyer Russian goalie prospect not allowed to leave the Mother country. He's accused of draft dodging. Maybe this will make teams think twice before drafting a Russian.

But if Colorado would have dumped them for future draft picks, they aren't parading around with the cup today - vabeachbear
No, but they did dump Matt Duchene in what amounted in both Samual Girard and the pick that netted them Byram. They also traded Ryan O'Rielly and moved on from Paul Statsny at the right time.
Plenty of high end talent that was either moved to restock their prospect pool, not overpay a player approaching 30 or clear the room for some other reason.
They dealt from a position of strength.
The Hawks have nothing comparable to build around in that age group. A 24 year old Debrincat is it. They have no other tangible assets. No first round pick this year.
Assuming Debrincat is producing a 40 goal pace and staying injury free at 31 or 32 is no less risky then acquiring 3 high end assets now and hoping one of them turns into a top line player.
The more opportunities they have to pick the better. |

If there was no salary cap I'm sure the Hawks wouldn't have any issues building one of the top rosters in the league.
Since there is a salary cap and the RFA rules keep players under control for a very long time - just throwing money around is impractical in today's league. |

I disagree but that's not what his statement was about. He said since Richardson wasn't a good player that the star players wouldn't respect or listen to him. |

I'm having trouble fathoming how a hack can have a 20 year NHL playing career.
It might be just me, though. |

Trading Duchense to Ottawa for their #1 (Makar) didn’t hurt. - LAHawk
I see where you are going, but I'm pretty sure Duchene was older than 24, not sure but I think so. |

Clearly the Lightning and Nick Paul see the perfect fit. 7 Year term and just over $3 million per year aav. Great deal for both.
I like what Nick Paul brings, but 7 years is just ridiculous to me. He's 27 now. - Chunk
None of will stand in the bolts way to get to the top of the Cap, where it will take another player to spend almost the entire season on IR, and them are healthy for the playoffs.
Isn't that what the older discussions with Mike Smith come down to?
Will he be willing to get everything fixed and sit until right before the playoffs...
