Not impressed at all with the swami’s betting record. I’d rather bet on Bitcoin after Matt Damon told me to.

Johnny hockey will be the new whipping boy by the start of his 2nd year. When he puts up 70 points the fans will turn on him quickly. He has to realize this growing up here and following from afar.

Free agency starts on 7/13. On that date, each team will then have the off season exemption of 10% of the upper limit to use. With the cap set at 82.5M, that is $8.25M. Flyers could sign a player such as Gaudreau without having to make a move prior.

That would be rubbing salt into the wound, Flyers are already trading from a position of weakness, on the players they want to move

Briere did want come to the Flyers as his top choice but was open to other possibilities. The Flyers put in offers on Briere, Gomez and Drury. Felt good about their chances on Briere but didn't know for sure.

Drury finally said no. Briere said yes. Flyers withdrew the Gomez offer.

That's firsthand per Danny and per Paul Holmgren from the Flyers at 50 interview sessions with Jay Greenberg. It wasn't a done deal way in advance.

Idk if drury was on philly radar. From what I know of the situation from wives was they both actually wanted to stay in buffalo… when that became appearant wasn’t happening and biron was traded to philly biron advocated to bring briere to philly. I know he definitely contacted briere many times whether or not on philly behalf(most likely) and deal was struck well in advance. Could it have changed or either side back out? Sure but the deal was pretty much agreed to enough for info to get leaked around the church. As far drury it was strange because the talk was he was pissed knowing briere was gonna leave but was still willing to stay in Buffalo and then buffalo pulled agreed to contract off table although it wasn’t formal contract. People are still low key pissed and somewhat blame biron for talking briere into going to philly. Or getting involved at the least. Point is this happens all the time. And if I remember correctly buffalo tried to claim tampering and there was investigation and the wives were questioned.

As a side not bob froese is a pastor in a buffalo suburb church. Bill should maybe try to reach out and do article on him. Very interesting story that dude is

Also briere or Paul aren’t EVER going to admit to the story I’m telling to a reporter on the record. But bill I can assure you it happened you obviously will see briere again just ask him hey I got this guy who went to church with Sylvie and off the record did tallinders wife leak around the church in January you agreed to go to philly. I guarantee he at least says no comment. Which will give you the answer

They Flyers would have been able to start negotiating with Gaudreau on June 22nd if I read the rules correctly.

I spoke with Rev Froese for the Pelle book. Communicated periodically by email for a few years and also connected with his son Rob on social media. Rev Froese has since switched churches.

So if you buy JG, you have Coots, JG and maybe a farabee, cam or TK on the other wing. You now have a first line. Assume you have the Frost line, then you have Hayes and an assortment of options.

All in all, one first line, call them middle of the pack first line and a bunch of what iffssss.

You would have to believe there is more to the plan, to make sure they really screw this up.

Yes, I posted it in here a few days ago. Real good stuff. The more I watch his ex players talk about him, even the ones who didn't get along with him sometimes, I am more encouraged that he is exactly what this team needs in the short and long term.

My hope is that he molds these younger players in to the type of vets who can win a cup in the future. The kinds of high character, hard working guys that every cup team has in spades.

This series is starting to feel like 1983. You have the defending champ bordering on Dynasty playing the up and coming new champs in waiting.

Could we see Tampa come back and win one more like the Islanders did in 83? Giving the Avalanche the final bit of experience they will need to rattle off a few or more in the future like those 84 Oilers?

I was one who supported the Alain Vigneault hire due to pure success on his resume, while not really knowing much about him. Bad hire. Bad for this team. He was the big fish at the time, which wasn’t saying much. He turned out to be a guy who was so critical of his players and rarely took the blame. I think I’m ready for some fire. Even if the team sucks, we all know the pressers will be entertaining. I’m here for next season.

I have heard a few snippets here and there over the years, but I don't listen much. Honestly, its not like I am saying anything earth shattering.
