Brunette did a pretty good job this year. There’s no shame in losing to Tampa. I was wondering if some of the guys they interviewed that are still out of work…ie Tocchet, Quinn would also be considered as it appears the coaching carousel is shortening and head coaching jobs less available….perhaps that’s the hold up? When the last head coaching job is secured, it might become a quick process….guys that want to coach, need a spot even if to start as an assistant. I mean the assistants under AV were both head coach’s. |

Hoping Mullen is tired of retirement and wants to come back to help the pp. His years here were under appreciated. Was my least favorite move from Hex using that gut instinct to change things up |

Would think the first move is to hire a pp coach.
Not really all that excited about the components we can roll out on the pp these days especially on defense. However, we were not exactly any good w G, Jake and Ghost anyway. That pp sucked as well. |

Second to taking Patrick, the firing of Mullen was the worst move he made. |

Love Brad Jones. Fastest NHl player ever.......was the Flyers big free agent pick u way back when.
Are you just throwing Brunettts name out there or are there any legs to him possibly coming? Does he knows Torts at all? Will Torts have a say in his assistants?

Wow, 1 for 32 on the PP in the playoffs. No need to look any further as to why they limped out of playoff contention. Not gonna get very far with those stats. So much for Giroux igniting that PP. Guess that's why he was taken off the first unit. Whoops! |

Actually the big problem on the Cats pp was the reinsertion of a rusty Ekblad on the top unit. In hindsight, they should have just left things alone. |

Couturier coming off major back surgery
Farabee likely to miss time at the start coming off a serious neck surgery
Ellis likely to miss significant time, if not the entire season
Not one quality top 6 center prospect in the entire organization
Risto almost certainly to get top 4 minutes
With all of the above, I doubt the pp coach is going to matter that much. This team will be in the lottery next year. My only fear is that Torts does just enough to improve them to 84-88 points and they end up picking in the 10-12 range instead of the top 5 where they need to be. |

Thank you, Bill…great read, as always. Loved watching Luke Richardson play. Tough as nails. Favorite moment: watching Luke doing all he could to go after Tie Domi (Leafs vs Flyers in Toronto). Domi wanted NO part of Richardson, and did all he could to skate away by hiding behind the refs, players. |

What they will hang their hat on will be some notion that they are playing better fundamental hockey. Will be easy to say that if they are losing games 3-1.
The curiosity lies in at what point will it be enough to fire Fletcher?
The ultimate fear is if he is allowed to stay in his presidential role, continuing to assist Briere. It means we are screwed long term, and all the old guard continue to slowly destroy this franchise. |

We will be back to the Hextall draft position after next year and this organization will be stuck in neutral for almost a decade. Unless this kid at #5 is an absolute stud, going to be a long next 4-5 years. |

Neither nemec or jiricek are advertised as 'studs'... they're 'nice players'. Don't get your hopes up. |

To be fair being in the 10-12 range can still get them a lottery pick of 1 or 2. I believe it will still be run the same like this year where a team can't move up more than 10 spots.
So 10-11 can get a 1OA or 2OA and 12 could get a 2OA? Correct me if I'm wrong.
UPDATE: What I DO NOT want from this upcoming season is just missing the playoffs with poor inconsistent play like in the past, which will give hope the following season will be better. |

Yes, 10-11 can get you to #1 but the odds are heavily against it. You have a better chance at 1-5, and, even if you don't hit the jackpot, at worst you are picking in the 3-7 range. |

Obviously, you still hire a pp coach, don't be so snarky.
Honestly, please explain to me why I should have any optimism when it comes to this team. Fletcher's track record? The team's performance over the last decade? The amount of players coming off or dealing with major injuries?
It's not "glass half empty", rather, it's being realistic. |

Luke Richardson is a guy I would have liked taking a chance on as head coach but we might have been setting him up for failure with this roster.
Looking forward to tonight’s game. I’ve enjoyed every moment. I believe the two very best teams finally made it to the final this year and this should only benefit the NHL’s product moving forward among fans and selling the game.
If the Aves don’t win tonight, I think Tampa is gonna sneak up from behind in game 7 and snatch that cup from the Aves’ grasp. With this said, go Aves! Fun team to watch. |

Former Flyer Vinny Prospal was selected back in 1993 today in the 3rd round of the NHL draft. He was traded because he was 'too fragile' and ended up playing over 1000 games. Whatever happened to Alexander Daigle? |

Not getting it yet, are you? - Pelle31Forever Not getting what genius? The other turd said that Trotz didn't want to come to Philly because of the current state of the Flyers. I said that I had heard from much more reliable sources that Trotz wasn't interested in coaching for anybody for awhile and it had nothing to do with the state of the Flyers. Unless I am missing something what is there to get?

Man, The Red Wings desperately need a new rivalry. For those who don’t know, I live in Detroit. Not from Detroit but I live here. The Red Wings locals have been bellyaching over Colorado being in the Final this entire series. Like, get over it! Their last series against each other was literally 20 years ago, all the players are retired and guys like Kris Draper and Darren McCarty have been living off their female doging about “the hit” from Claude Lemieux all this time. I don’t even think the Wings are a thought in the Aves mind anymore but if you live in Detroit, they’re constantly playing 20 year old footage of their series against each other. It’s really sad. They’re not even in the same conference anymore!!
What I love about being a Flyers fan. We have a rivalry against everyone in the east |
