Luke Richardson is a guy I would have liked taking a chance on as head coach but we might have been setting him up for failure with this roster.

Looking forward to tonight’s game. I’ve enjoyed every moment. I believe the two very best teams finally made it to the final this year and this should only benefit the NHL’s product moving forward among fans and selling the game.

If the Aves don’t win tonight, I think Tampa is gonna sneak up from behind in game 7 and snap that cup from the Aves’ grasp. With this said, go Aves! Fun team to watch.

I loved watching Luke clean Dubinsky's clock with 1 solid punch. Also Luke could do the splits.....

So here’s the deal…. A friend of mine daughter has a condition that they have to go to childrens in Philly every 3 months for treatment. Well about year ago they were there wearing Sabres gear And their nurse says you in town watching game too? Says her fiancé plays hockey. Yep jg fiancé. Well my buddy wife and her become friends and talk to each other

Anyways so according to her jg definitely coming to east coast as now wife is in Philly and torn between philly and some other better east coast teams. Wife torn between leaving philly to move to Boston ny etc.

So after playoff run jg decided he and wife want to stay in Philly and as of a few days ago he’s agreed to sign in Philly.

Now obviously this can’t be leaked yet by some in the know per tampering rules but for hb debates moving forward he will be on roster.

He’s signing here. No details pervided of term or money just it’s a done deal they’ve agreed on the contract and it’s hush hush.

So I’d assume someone is being moved at draft to make room for the cap hit

If Eklund had posted this story (as if he had the inside scoop), I would totally laugh it off. But you, my friend, seem as though you have a very reliable source to validate the story. Hoping this materializes. Yup, cap hit will present a challenge, but as the team is currently constructed, there is not a single sniper — certainly no one that possesses JG’s skill set.

So I guess the Flyers have risked tampering charges and risk losing draft picks to negotiate with a soon to be UFA?

Hoping Mullen is tired of retirement and wants to come back to help the pp. His years here were under appreciated. Was my least favorite move from Hex using that gut instinct to change things up
- GPerogie

Agree with Mullen. His record with the Flyers was outstanding and the PP has gone in the wrong direction ever since. Actually he’s not retired. He’s coaching in the 3ICE league. I’m sure the Flyers AC would be an updade over that. Torts should give him a call.

It's more the players right now than who's drawing things up. Flyers are currently left with only a single PP "weapon", and that's JVR. The rest of the players are non-factors at best. Some are flat out bad on the PP.

Joe Mullen's not gonna be able to do anything with that. He had a lot of great PP players when he was here. Now there are none.

Obviously, you still hire a pp coach, don't be so snarky.

Honestly, please explain to me why I should have any optimism when it comes to this team. Fletcher's track record? The team's performance over the last decade? The amount of players coming off or dealing with major injuries?

It's not "glass half empty", rather, it's being realistic.

- BiggE

Not snarky, but I'm not one to watch and support the team by throwing in the towel and wanting to draft better - Not with the lack of guarantee of a drafted player being good (and our recent draft results are questionable at best) But a good coach for the PP ala Mullen (just the example, I know he's out) shows that even a team lacking true depth can have a good PP, look at some of his results when he was here with the teams/players he had, some great teams but also some poor ones, yet consistently our pp was good. There is never any hard in having a solid staff around.

The power play was good and likely contributed to keeping them in the 12-17 range. At the end of the day it accomplished nothing.

Until this franchise accepts a true rebuild nothing will change unless every star aligns.

Being a bad team and drafting high has no guarantee of success. It might be easier on a simulation like XBOX to try that but when the team has fans, seats to sell, merchandise to market you can't just tank to try to get pics Snider would have never had that in his days, and this team still has one of the better all time NHL records, though its taken a hit lately. Pride is playing to win every game.

No one here said it does. What it does do is enhance your chances to acquire a difference maker. There are potentially 5 franchise players in the 2023 draft. From all accounts definitely 3. So based on where the organization is today what do you think the correct course of action should be?

What Snider would have done is irrelevant as the NHL is a totally different ballgame in 2022. There all time record also does not matter in 2022 when you dissect this organization.

Fans will come if there is a clear plan. Go back to #88. They need that next star. Going the way they have sure as hell will not fill up the seats.

How many other bottom teams are paying their head coach 9 million?

You’ll see. Again not a stranger. Jg wife is a nurse or at least was at childrens in Philly. Like I said my friend more specifically his wife is good friends with her. Obviously they talk. I guess the talk was did she want to leave philly. She really didn’t want to but would if jg signed on east coast somewhere else. But according to her the wife told her she’s staying in Philly. That jg agreed to deal with flyers a few days ago.

My guess gotta be the 7 years.
I’d think 9 would be hometown discount
I’d fully expect 10+.

Again something gotta give before 7/1 to fit that I think cap wise even with 10% offseason allowance

I would love the next 88, but I just don't think the team is going to sacrifice putting a bad team on the ice at this point in time, Though the D needs some work and the idea of just counting on Ellis to be healthy is scary, the potential is still there for this team. The outlook is not as bad as the product they were last year, Couts being out hurt bad, Ellis could stabilize things, I expect a rebound from TK and more improvement from Farabee. If Frost finds his game and we play a little backchecking and d this team is not terrible, Not bad enough in my mind to just junk a season or two hoping we draft the next 88. Snider might be irrelevant to todays league, but to some old crap fans like myself he is still the golden standard for this team and what expectations are.

It’s like when briere signed in Philly. I knew it in January 7 months before during season. Brieres wife told birons with they’d sign in Philly. Biron was pushing biron to sign there. How did I find out? Know people that went to same church as the wives. It was actually tallinders wife that leaked it.
