Hopefully Torts can change that, and Fletcher can start bringing in more high end talent. A little more health will go a long way as well. Geez, Farabee with neck surgery, when will it end? - jd250
You have to build a culture, you don’t buy it or make it happen with a coach. There needs to be a huge turnover of the roster and start over again, get back to playing Flyer hockey. Unfortunately I think that’s dead with current ownership though. |

JVR can be moved by just retaining some money. He still has value and if your getting a 20 goal scorer for say 3.5-4 million compared to 7 there is a deal to be made. I do think Konecny is also possibly moved and that would be about 5.5 million. Also i don't think both Laughton and Lindblom are back. One will be moved as both make 3milion on the cap.
But I don't want Gaudreau. I would only want him if your moving out a deal like Hayes. - J35Bacher

Still amazes me you think Chuck can bring in high end talent. One thing you seem to forget. Chucks version of high end talent may differ from what high end talent actually is, see RR. |

I don't necessarily agree with you. I do agree that some players may need to be moved, for example Provorov. But the Flyers have enough young players that can still be molded, and some good veteran players that I believe already play the right way, e.g. Couturier, Atkinson, Risto and Ellis. I don't think its a lost cause by any means. |

I did say that. But the deal is done now. As a Flyers fan I have to hope Torts does a great job. I will say since the hire, I have liked what I have heard from him. My biggest concern with Torts was all the off the ice media crap. My hope is he will calm that down and focus on the team and the results. |

nothing against the current players on this roster but they'll never get it done for a cup in the current core |

But on a serious note, I hope everyone understands what Giroux did to the Flyers this season! His own selfishness lead to the Flyers basically getting nothing for him, but alas, Giroux gets to watch another team once again hoist the Cup. Karma! - jd250

Will anyone be shocked if we trade a pick for JG's rights? I will not.. - Hextall271
I know a few in here hang on Chucks balls like a vampire at a bloodbank. And we do tend to over dramatize Chucks failures as a GM for the most part, but this would be insane. I know there is a fair bit of sarcasm in your post, but in case there isn't, I would be very shocked and it would be a whole other level of stupid bordering on how how high a pick it is.
A 5th for the rights? Ok, dumb but I can at least go to sleep.
A 3rd? ugh. And don't think I don't see that we have 3 3rd round picks in 2023
A 1st? The rest of the GM's who aren't Calgary should ban together and drown Chuck in a burlap sack. Though even if it were a possibility I don't think he would deal that for a second.

He turned down everyone's offer including a sun and moon offer from his hometown Jets. My point to the main turd on here was that he didn't turn down the Flyers because of their current situation as an organization. Yet, the genius hermit crab can't admit that he was wrong. - Phillywhiteout
You don't know the full reason why he turned down the Flyers. I'm sure he got multiple offers and if he had decided to coach this year, would he have accepted that offer? Or would he have gone with another team. Who knows.

Of course Fletcher did a good job, what else could he have done given his hands were completely tied by Giroux? What else could you conclude? Again, I never stated the Flyers were getting Newhook or Lundell, but only if I were Fletcher I would pushed hard for either one of them. However knowing what I know now, there was absolutely no way Fletcher would get any impactful player given what little he had to work with. - jd250
Yes you did state that they were going to get one of Newhook or Lundell. You stated it repeatedly. What do you know now? You still can't get it right even after the fact. |

Since you asked, I think Giroux wanted to be sure Florida was where he went and thus I believe his camp made it clear to everyone where he wanted to go. Like you said, that was his right ... Flyers be dammed! - jd250
So you think the Giroux camp leaked that he only wanted to go to Florida to be sure that was where he went? Despite the NMC which guaranteed he controlled where he went? Do you have any common sense? All Giroux had to do was tell Fletcher he will only accept a trade to Florida.

Wait, I am not saying he had to do anything. But given that, am I not then allowed to be angered by the fact that the Flyers could not maximize the return of one of their most key assets? - jd250
The Flyers did maximize the return.

Definitely is the silly season right now. I think a name who has not been mentioned that could be a traded is Sanheim. I could see him and a pick(2024 extra first) to a team for a more "seasoned" defender. It's the kind of move Fletcher would make to aggressively retool. And, I would most likely hate it. |

I think Tipett has a chance to contribute, yes, he did not crack the Panthers, some on him and some on the depth of the team, he surely has the skill set the Flyers lack. Now that he knows he has a real shot on a lesser team, lets see how that goes. No way a 1st next year is worth a thing, this is a 1 year sport |
