ok, Ovy was a 1st overall pick but the other 2, every NHL passed on them at least once in the same draft in 2003

Bergeron, drafted in the 2nd round, 45th overall
Pavelski, 7th round, 205th overall.

Crazy that what me and others said about him not getting the same opportunities to play with the best players, would make his production basically non-existent. Since he was clearly carried by that fact.
- GreatGigInTheSky

That was why I thought the deal was nuts. Technically I believe it was 4 first round picks. 2 were prospects who the lightning had used 1st round picks on.

It was a sweet deal for Chicago.

The Leafs have priced themselves out of resigning these two players or any good free agents due to spending $50 mil on 5 players.
- islansjet

The Jets have Winnepegged themselves out of signing any good free agents ever.

Morning all.

Please stop commenting about serving staff at Moxie's in an inappropriate manner (Sklappy this means you mostly) they are mostly if not all minors and it's not only unacceptable but it's creppy.

Also I have no clue how it spread through here but one of you who had or has Covid has given it to me!

Feels very much like walking pneumonia (which I've had 2 or 3 times, usually this time of year when it's hot and muggy outside and artic cold inside due to AC) combined with a throat infection and a sinus cold.

My throat feels like I swallowed some lava, so I'm constantly drinking warm drinks and/or using antiseptic lozenges / spray. No breathing difficulties, just a bit of a hack that I'm suppressing because otherwise it feels like someone is punching me in the chest and lower back at the same time.

Fun times but I'm happy I'm triple vaxxed as this could undoubtedly be much much worse.

I was supposed to start a week of vacation tomorrow, now I'm house bound until middle of next week.....ugh.

I want to preface this because there's some meander in here - Vancouver is in a weird place. They were a playoff team from January onwards under Boudreau. So they have a playoff coach who likely doesn't want to be a rebuild coach on a team that I think screams rebuild. I mean when I look at the team, I'm not sure where they would go if they felt that last year's progress was a positive indicator. I have a strong feeling about where they SHOULD go based on what they have, but Boudreau's presence muddies those waters.

For instance I'm not sure Boeser is all that - if I'm not mistaken his QO is $7.5m and if I was Boeser, I'd take that all day every day because there isn't much about his game that screams "I'm worth more than $5m!". Ever since Benning gave him that 3 year bridge deal which was backloaded to increase the QO value, Boeser hasn't stepped up and performed at the same 35-40 goal pace that got him there. If anything he's in the 20-25 range.

Miller, on the other hand, is that team's engine. They'd be wise to figure out what he wants to stay - and he has said he wants to stay. And then make a decision - do they think they can build with what they have or do they recognize that it's possibly full tear down time and maximize the return on Miller while he's hot?

The reason I say that (and it's a bit of an about face after I looked deeper at their system) is because after Hughes at 22, Petterson at 23, Demko at 26 . . . and Podkolzin being just okay at 21 - honestly their prospect pool sucks . . . they might be better off just tearing it all down and accepting that Benning ran them into the ground and they need to just start over.

But if that were the case, signing Mikheyev wouldn't be of use. They'd be better off to stockpile useful guys who can be traded at the TDL for picks and second-chance guys who can rehab their careers (or not) and be traded out for a pick. Basically the stuff Lou did here which helped get additional 2nd and 3rd rd picks that were smart moves.

- Monkeypunk

A few quick points, leaving for work soon

Boeser is overrated (I see most Canucks games)

Mikheyev would be a huge upgrade over Sutter as a Pk and (likely)similar cap hits

Correct, their prospect pool is thin

Miller is at an all time high value and should decline into his 30’s

Have a good day

Not that I think there's any need to delve into the creepiness - but aren't they specifically not minors if they're serving alcohol? They definitely don't fit into half+7, I'll tell you that.

As for COVID - I just had a couple of weeks ago. It was a 3-4 day thing. Mostly fatigue, fever and coughing - but not constant. I didn't feel well, but being objective I've had a number of flus that hit me harder.

Let's not forget that Omicron is the weakest strain and we're vaccinated, so the initial onset of COVID and the Delta variant would have packed a serious punch.

My wife felt poorly for 1 day, but her mom (who is 75 and has a number of health issues) is still experience aftereffects and we're into 2 weeks later for her.

Miller has had his best seasons at 28/29. Hard to see him decline much yet. He is a star and will be one for a while now.

I haven't been, no. But I know many a people that have been and they all say the exact same thing. "Don't go there."
- GreatGigInTheSky

My description -

downtown is mostly deserted, other than their drug addicts/homeless on the streets. There was a park downtown, you could literally look out at night, and see the odd glow of a lighter here and there, in various locations. I'm told that's homeless/addicts lighting up pipes. In the morning, I went for a walk to get a coffee. Downtown, middle of a business week, 8am. 20 minute walk, saw a handful of people, maybe.

There really isn't much there. The weather is legitimately horrendous nearly the whole year.

The housing? I took a cab from airport to downtown hotel. Basically, in the entire drive, I saw nothing but what you would consider a small 70s bungalow in any other city, the entire drive. miles and miles of unimpressive bland small bungalows, with nobody anywhere.

In fact, when I went to leave, I wanted a slice of pizza, so grabbed my bag, had 3 hours before flight, and started walking. I thoguht I would find a pizza joint, and then hail a cab. Walked about an hour. 1 pizza joint, and they wouldn't sell a slice, said they only did delivery. on top of that, I simply couldn't get a cab. Downtown. I think they maybe had a rule that they don't pick up people hailing on the street or something. But it took another 10 minutes of walking just to find a shop that would call a cab. Ate at the airport.

EDIt - just for fun, I went on youtube and found a video somebody made of their trip to winnpeg. Look at this video, and note, in the entire video tour of winnipeg, you can count the number of people you see on the streets on one hand.

Fair enough you do have to be 18 to serve alcohol but even at that at 18 they are still kids and it's only the servers that have to be 18 and the comments were still somewhat offside.

I"m able to work remote which is nice, I find concentrating on a screen a bit of a challenge beyond an hour so it'll be a day of work/rest on the couch and repeat. Could be much much worse. My biggest fear is giving it to my 76 year old father in law who has COPD and Diabetes and is less than a year removed from a triple bypass.....I hope your wife's mother feels 100% soon.

Im pretty sure I just had it a second time, I didn't test positive but Wednesday night was basically the first time I left bed in 4 days. Either another dose of covid or the common cold has gone nuclear, put me square on my ass.

Everything else you described is very much my first go with covid. The feeling of having broken glass in your throat was a bit over the top. Hope you don't get the entire body pain too (around day 3 on) that was no bueno.

3. Blake Wheeler
Right Wing, Winnipeg Jets
Age: 35
Stats: 65 GP, 17 G, 43 A, 60 Pts
Contract: 2 more seasons, $8.25 million AAV
Scoop: Sources say the Jets have begun to explore the market and engage with teams on the possibility of moving Wheeler, the franchise stalwart and last remaining holdover from the Atlanta Thrashers days. Wheeler has complete control over his destination until July 1, when his full “no-move” clause converts into a five-team list to which he’d accept a trade. The early sense is Wheeler may be willing to consider a proposed destination that also is not on his list, if it’s a proper fit for his family and career. Will his cap hit prove difficult to move? Maybe not. Wheeler could be the missing piece for a contending team as a point-per-game, play-driving winger with size and heart.

Would need a 3rd party which makes it unlikely but as a player, would be exactly what the Leafs could use.

So that was my problem - I couldn't concentrate. I couldn't cohesively put together what I needed to in my head. I do a lot of data analysis and interaction/update of relational data and it was basically impossible. I had been asked, for instance, to perform an invoice audit dating back to 2018 for some ancillary conditional charges and it was simply impossible for those days I had it.

Are you aware that the city has an underground system so many people likely use that than the streets? Especially if there's poorer weather.

I was there for a week for work purposes a few years ago. I hated it but there's people lol.

I had covid at Xmas. The main symptoms were about a week and it sucked. I didn't know it was covid for a few days so I tried working still and that was brutal. Hard to concentrate or have energy plus I had my 4 year old here.

I had long term effects and needed a puffer to assist. It was about a 2 month ordeal to fully recover.

The greeters and kids cleaning up tables aren't serving alcohol. I knew a girl who worked there when we were in high school, and her manager was very clear at the time that wearing a shirt which entirely covered her chest was frowned upon.

My youngest daughter wanted to work there because they hire as young as 14, it's one of the only places she can work at that age. Yeah, no.

You do the math on those two statements and that place is (frank)ing gross.
