Giving Campbell over 5M on a long term deal is madness.
Hopefully it comes to this. - Scabeh
It looks like we may need two goalies... Not sure if there is one available that is better than Jack Campbell. The whole John Gibson thing looks like it's not gonna happen, he'll stay in Anaheim.

Honestly wont lose a whole lot of sleep if the team ends up not signing both. Mik was fast and started to find his hands but he still is a better complimentary 3rd line guy not a top 6 and that is what he wants to be and get paid like.
Campbell is good, but can't overpay. I think in the end Leafs still need that central piece in net like a Potvin, Cujo, Belfour etc to steal a game.

I will miss Mikheyev, he is fun to watch... I like Campbell as well, but if he wants more than $4.5M, I think they have to move on.. Campbell hasn't proven he can steal a game.. Leafs need a goalie that can.

I think Anaheim would be best to keep him and if they are out of by the deadline move on from him then

Mik disappeared for most games in these past playoffs.
I agree, the leafs need a goalie to steal a game...we've seen that in the reg season once in a while with campbell but never in the playoffs
Mikheyev is heading to Vancouver
(which for me is a good option)👍
Joining the UFA Russian they just signed
Kuzmenko
Smart gm’ing by Rutherford Allvin
Trade Boeser and Miller for a 🚤 load
Pick up UFA’s for free - mr.sir

You'll need to qualify Boeser at around 8M or work out a 5 ~6 year contract to get his cap hit down a little
I don't see much going to Vancouver for him

Ignoring that their GM is Patrick Alvin - let's say the Canucks pick up Mikheyev for $4-5m and Kuzmenko for his ELC . . . now you're dealing with two guys who are both at age 27 (Mikheyev will be 28 in October, and Kuzmenko turns 27 in February) this season; Mikheyev hit 20 goals for the first time last year, and Kuzmenko hit 20 in the KHL for the first time last year - and you could legitimately credit a lot of that to Gusev, who was no massive game breaker in the NHL with 13 goals a few years back.
So you're bringing in maybe 30 or 35 goals and trading out 55 - 60 goals from younger and better players? So you get some assets later in the draft - like picks in the 20-30 range. Where do Vancouver think they are? Are they rebuilding? Are they retooling? Or are they building and need to shift salary? They were 25-15-9 from January 1 onwards - which was a playoff team.
I don't think that's good GM'ing to get worse when you have some young solid players you can build from.
I'm going to say it again, that Hagel trade looks like trash. 6 points in the playoffs. two first round picks for this guy.
Yes I get his salary is cheap but he only scored 4 goals after being traded and 2 were empty netters. If his points don't get close to what he got in Chicago it's a horrible trade. It's already not been good for this run.

Allvin isn’t calling the shots without Rutherford yet
My point is that if you trade players for assets and then pick up UFA to fill the gaps, you come out ahead in the long run
For example……(hypothetical)
Dubas trades Nylander for 3 prospects
Then signs Forsberg as UFA
Now you have Forsberg + 3 prospects instead of just Nylander
(Yes I realize FF will probably get 8.5m)
Vancouver is building around Demko, Hughes and Pettersen
They don’t need to stampede towards the clitoris yet

Def in the not best trade column ...Can't win them all. Paul on the other hand looking like a nice little steal.
