The Rangers have done a ton of good things obviously in building and managing their team. They've also made some mistakes in moves and some coaching moves that I disagreed with. I think Gallant underplayed the kid line some and then scratching Kakko didn't make sense. The last two games were a very thin line and came down to one play. - MJL
The hurt veteran over the young player that will be part of your future going forward, sounds like the Flyers. This way of thinking will always be present in the NHL. |

No they got exposed by a team that was better and could shut down their offense. Tampa would have won that series with Elliott in there. Pens couldnt win a game 7 with their full lineup and their #1 goalie ( not that Jarry is any good in the playoffs no better than Louie record wise). They beat the Canes who with Raanta beat Boston...if it wasnt for Raanta Rangers would have won that series in 4 he gave up 1 goal total in first 2 games. Fact is Tampa is the 2x defending champ for a reason and as much as I dislike Cooper he made the adjustments that Gallant couldnt. Rangers lost 3 of their 4 games by 1 goal ( exclude 1 EN ). Wasnt Vas in net that was the difference it was their smothering defensive structure..Congrats Tampa well deserved - hfc355
Smothering defensive structure is much easier to play when a team has flaws in their lineup. Cooper saw the same thing that most saw, not all including yourself. |

They just took Tampa to a one goal game in game 6, all the mocking still applies. Chris Drury did a fantastic job and it showed. - ClaudeFather
Drury has done well but made some critical mistakes that cost them. The Rangers scored 1 ES goal in the last 4 games. Strome had zero points in the series and Copp had 2 assists. Lucky for Drury, this team will be a top team for years to come and they have plenty of more chances.

No, I think that the reason why they lost validates me and certainly invalidates you. I can understand how you wouldn't like that.

What critical mistakes has he made that cost them this series?
Drury or Hextall, who would you pick?

Drurys mistakes got them to the eastern conference finals with a fighting chance. They were the better team in games 1,2, and 5. Strome is clearly hurt and was terrible all playoffs, scratching Kakko and playing Strome is on Gallant. Copp had a great playoff, they were also playing the best goalie in the game. Was nothing short of a Stanley cup going to defend the Buchnevich trade? It’s just absurd that you are criticizing the guy one one trade, even if he “lost” that trade, he won the war. By a lot. |

They beat Florida in 4...took 6 to beat Rangers and 3 were by 1 goal. No question Rangers have flaws..no question Tampa the better team. That being said they got to the final 4 which none of us expected. They just signed Kratsov to a contract . |

This from the guy who said Rangers werent contenders??? I say getting to the final 4 makes you a contender. They certainly outperformed some of your real contenders |

They really got there on the play of Shesterkin and a few top players and their PP. They were not a good enough team at ES which is why going into the playoffs, I did not think they were a serious contender. The kid line improved and helped them out a lot. I'm not critiquing the guy for one bad trade. I'm critiquing him for overvaluing grit and choosing grinders over high level skill. That was a mistake short term. We've already discussed the Buchnevich deal in depth. It was a bad move. The facts bear that out. They would've had a much better chance to go to the next war with a high level skilled offensive player in the lineup. The Rangers scored 1 ES goal in the last 4 games. The last few games were tight. |

I agree, the Rangers went further than I thought they would, They had a great season. Ultimately though, the Rangers lost due to the reasons that I saw. They have a great future and young players further developing should help a lot with the flaws in the Rangers game. They already have 4 elite level players, 5 if you count Kreider as a goal scorer. More on the way. I'd be very excited for the future if I was a Rangers fan.

So you just assume with Buchnevich they finish where they did and the matchup's are all the same. Got it
Rangers lose with or without Buchnevich Cliff |

Computers do that nowadays anyway. Humans just tell the flight computers where they want to go (i.e., "fly-by-wire"). |

The mocking didnt apply. Drury did a decent job and they road a hot goalie and efficient PP to the ECF, while playing average, at best, goaltenders.
Theyre a good team with a lot of peices but people were acting like they are the next dynasty
As for the one goal nonsense, Tampa drubbed them the last 3 games and the only reason the games were close was Igor |

They have a lot of pieces so they can certainly be a top team for years to come. You're right, the Rangers over relied on goaltending and a hot PP. Their flaws eventually came to the top.
