Yup. 9 total in a row. Longest since ‘11.
But of course Atlanta is on a 10 game heater at the same time, and the Mets have built themselves a sizable cushion.
Sounds like Knebel might have had a setback of some sort tonight. Hope he’s okay, but I’m all for Dominguez getting his shot at closing. |

Correct. They warmed him up and then sat him down, but then he was unable to warm up again should it have become a save situation should the Phils have surrendered one. |

I was at a game in the early 00's where I saw a couple Flyer fans beat the crap out of a father in front of his two kids and wife...because he had an Islander jersey on. No words exchanged, just 2 Flyer fans jumped him in the parking lot after the game.
It happens everywhere, no matter the team. Just like in the posted video where Ranger fans were upset the guy did that, Flyer fans tackled the two guys who jumped the Islander fan.
No matter the sport or the team there are bumholes everywhere. They always get what they deserve sooner or later. - Glak18
With the abundance of CCTV and cell phones everywhere, you might think people would be more " cautious"...however the NYR fans' father minimizing what he did be saying tomorrow is a new day, everything will be ok, after saying his son made a bad choice sends mixed messages. Self defense his lawyer says...

Tocchet has zero personality on TV and should be replaced. Nor should he be the Flyers' next coach. A former player and HOFer does not qualify him for the job. Trotz has shown to be a good coach for bad teams, as has Tortz with Columbus. Tortz would be fun to watch even if the team stinks up another year. |

Kakko an odd scratch. Gallent was outcoaches bad imo. Once Torts gets on board he will renew that rivalry.
Really cant wait until Chuck gets started. So looking forward what he does with this roster. Hopefully the entertainment will begin shortly. |

Love the Rangers. Looking forward to watching Shesterkin fox and like torture the flyers for the foreseeable future.
No shame losing to Tampa.

Great write up on those phantoms teams. Some posters in here really don’t know how good we have it.

Anyone find it a little odd only the Flyers have shown interest in Torts? Doesn't seem like he is in demand in any way.
Him being 64 he knows this is his last shot and will take any job at this point imo. Last shot at money as well. |

Lol, so they've basically narrowed it down to Torts then - Tomahawk
Anyone know did they even talk to Gronberg?

Tampa was clearly the better team. Rangers will be fine going forward. They have a lot working for them to make a run every year the next 5 years or so.
I myself not a Gallant fan.

Torts wouldn't be my first, second, third, fourth or even 10th choice. I'd rather a younger coach, with a track record of success coaching younger players. But that will never happen because, unlike pretty much the rest of humanity, Fletcher and his cronies cannot recognize the overwhelming need for a full, all out, rebuild.
This team is a mess in pretty much every area both on and off the ice. Their developmental dept has a track record of success on par with New Coke and the Ford Edsel. The owner's face, Dave Scott, knows less about hockey than I do of how to pilot a spacecraft. And, worst of all, the head of the hockey operation, our astute GM, is just utterly clueless about to build a winning team in the NHL in the year of our lord 2022.
On ice, it's just as bad as question marks abound. Their is no #1 D, nor is their anyone in the system with the slightest chance of developing into one. In fact, it's questionable if there is even just a legit top pair player in the entire system. Ellis is, at best, doubtful to even play significant games next season, Provorov is only able to cut it with a certain type of partner and Sanheim is just not physically strong enough to handle the amount and type of minutes top pairings play.
The forward prospect group lacks a top 6 center, let alone a top guy or franchise center. Couts, after all the wear and tear is probably best off as a guy in a 1A/1B situation rather than a top C playing monster minutes. Hayes, due his glaring lack of hockey sense is best in a 3rd line role and after those two it's nothing but bottom six players, hopes and question marks. On the wing, at least on the right side they are deep in both the lineup and the system, but even there, they lack a quality 1RW. On the left side, there is a lot of depth, but Farabee is only legit top 6 possibility if he can stay healthy and avoid long slumps. Goal might be the only place they aren't in imminent need but there is, probably, no Vasi or Shesterkin in the organization. And finally, lets not forget the bad to awful contracts that are Risto, Ellis, Hayes and Couturier.
It needs to be blown up and rebuilt from the foundation up. |

Not sure why someone thinking that it's not their time would be a JO. Now if the comment is made out of spite maybe. Rangers had some flaws that hurt them but they still went to the conference finals. I believe that this run will be springboard for a number of their young players in Lafreniere, Miller, Chytil and Kakko. When they do and add that to an already elite couple of forwards, a defenseman and goaltender. It will be their time for considerable amount of time.

The scratching of Kakko last night was puzzling to say the least. He may of been struggling, but he has the skill to make that one play that could lead to a goal while his replacement was a banged up scrub. It sounds straight from the AV playbook and using the AV playbook is never a good idea. |

No they got exposed by a team that was better and could shut down their offense. Tampa would have won that series with Elliott in there. Pens couldnt win a game 7 with their full lineup and their #1 goalie ( not that Jarry is any good in the playoffs no better than Louie record wise). They beat the Canes who with Raanta beat Boston...if it wasnt for Raanta Rangers would have won that series in 4 he gave up 1 goal total in first 2 games. Fact is Tampa is the 2x defending champ for a reason and as much as I dislike Cooper he made the adjustments that Gallant couldnt. Rangers lost 3 of their 4 games by 1 goal ( exclude 1 EN ). Wasnt Vas in net that was the difference it was their smothering defensive structure..Congrats Tampa well deserved |

The Rangers have done a ton of good things obviously in building and managing their team. They've also made some mistakes in moves and some coaching moves that I disagreed with. I think Gallant underplayed the kid line some and then scratching Kakko didn't make sense. The last two games were a very thin line and came down to one play.

Torts will get the flyers closer to a real rebuild than Trotz. That is all I have at the moment.
Never ever thought I would see a worse drought than 89-94 teams. At least they had 88 for a several and you knew it would turn around.

They just took Tampa to a one goal game in game 6, all the mocking still applies. Chris Drury did a fantastic job and it showed. |

I think much like Keenan, his style and routine has run its course in the NHL. Unless you were a team that was a year or two away from legitimately competing for a title, he doesn’t make sense. I’d pass on him.
