I think the biggest question with the draft will be if they stay the course with the quantity of picks they have, or try to exchange some to move up the draft and improve on quality of prospects. And even they probably won't completely know till draft day as it will likely relate to who's still on the board after each pick goes versus who's on there radar.
Get Romanov and Primeau signed soon, sure up the coach... and get ready for a quiet off-season as it should be.

Drouin and Byron have only one season each on their deals. If mtl can move them just before TDL, good, otherwise it's just one season. I already said what I was thinking about moving Armia. We'll see if Hughes can move Petry. Other than Letang, who would you target as a defenseman if they move him? |

Fans will be patient as exhibited by this past season. As long as the focus stays on draft and development. If this past season doesn't prove Montreal has true hockey fans nothing does |

...and as long as the team is fun to watch.
The problem with last season (before Ducharme was canned) was that they were losing horribly and they were so boring to watch.
If you are going to lose, at least put on a show. |

This, at the end of the season they were still entertaining to watch even though they were losing more than winning. |

Anton Stralman could be alright to fill a spot on the right side. |

Combien de jeunes vont faire l'équipe l'an prochain?

I wouldn't mind seeing Wright sent back to junior for a year.
He's an exceptionnal talent but he also missed a whole year of play in 2020-2021.
Maybe they'll give him 10 games and see where he's at?

Had to look him up. As long as he can still play in the top 4 at 35. I guess Klingberg is not happening.
I wouldn't mind Chiarot coming back, but that would not help the pp and he's not the puck moving defenseman that mtl may want. |

Love Chiarot, but he's not coming back.
We need space on the left side for Guhle, who'll be an absolute beast for us sooner than later.

With the World Championships drawing to a close this weekend, Kent Hughes will be coming home to a massive to-do list shortly. - Karine Hains
So..Romanov is a RFA that can’t be offer sheeted because?
Also, when Price hits the LTIR, they’ll have some cap space, no? |

The thing is that he's up against Dvorak and Evans. As much as people say it should not dictate where he will play, considering if he's ready or not will be judge in part about how he does at camp vs those 2, no? |

Honestly, I thought we'd know more by now on his case. Surgery? Retirement? Continue playing with a bad knee? |

You cannot be offersheeted unless you have played 3 professional seasons. Romanov has two.
He did sign his contract 3 years ago but he couldn't play in the playoffs so despite counting as a year burned off in his contract, since he didn't play, it doesn't count for the offersheet rule.
Weird, I know, but that's how it is.
As for Price, the way LTIR works is that the team must be cap compliant when the season begins, including LTIR players.
Afterwards, Price can be put on LTIR and we can count the portion of his salary that makes us go over the cap as "available cap space".
I might be missing some details but that's how I understand it.

The way Bergevin or Carolina used them? Yes.
In some cases though, especially when teams are tight against the cap (the actual cap, not some bullpoop internal budget the player's agent told you about), I still think they are a valid possibility where you can either poach a good player from another team or force them to make moves to make it work.
I mostly hate the whole "bad blood" that goes with them for some reason. They are part of the CBA yet people act like it's an insult to use them.

Chiarot would be used on the right side if they move Petry. He played there last season for a while.
Romanov will most likely play with Savard, at least to start the season. Then you have edmundson and Petry. If they move Petry, they will most likely get a vet to replace him there. Then you can have Guhle or Harris on the third pair on the left side, with Barron on the right. If they sign Wideman, they will rotate on the bottom pair for a while. |

My point was that it should not be that hard for Wright to be better. It would be another story with most nhl teams, but not in Montreal. |
