When Putin is ordering troops to commit crimes against humanity, Ovechkin’s support of him isn’t a political view.

You (and I) have no clue what the situation is like in Ovi head. He condemned the war. Great. For me it does nothing. There is a lunatic being a looney.
The argument that if he called out Putin and called him a psycho or whatever - his family and friends in Russia would be safe is bizarre. You can’t claim Putin is a madman then claim that he wouldn’t harm someone’s family. Especially if you take the angle that Ovi is super influential in Russia and he could possibly sway Putin supporters.
You can’t argue from both ends.

Anyways, he’s a hockey player. I could care less who he likes. He called out the war and that’s good enough. I could care less who he likes or dislikes politically. He’s not a murderer, rapist, etc., he shot down the war move on.
Ultimately, I’m not completely educated on BOTH sides of what’s going on and what has happened over the years and what’s going on currently etc. as a Canadian I condemn wars thy aren’t necessary. I also hate watching our country turn into a place where we conveniently choose to be outraged by some things and atrocities against some people and not others. We pick and choose our holiness and outrage these days.

If they can be substantiated, yes. There have been some isolated claims of captured Russian soldiers being shot. These should be investigated and dealt with. But don’t (frank)ing suggest there’s any kind of equivalency. Russians are deliberately and systematically murdering civilians. They are moving entire civilian populations out of the country into Russia and putting children up for adoption with Russian families. They are trying to wipe out the idea of Ukraine. This is genocide.
