cross checking a player in his back while he is down...weak call

the replies are great, juice nails it

Leafs no chance, not built for it...so League has to help out the golden boy leefs

- senstroll

Imagine seeing multiple crosschecks on a guy and then say- "I can't believe they called that a crosschecking penalty".

I'm certain that Point is not 100% and hasn't been for weeks. This could be a huge but low-key factor.

Who doesn't want to cross streams with a complete stranger?

Imagine a Leafs and a Sens fan directly across from each other?

I know that it’s the Leafs, so we have to discount everything they do, but sorry, I do not agree with the notions that Tampa was lethargic or they played bad or they weren’t ready.

The Leafs played a flawless game last night.

I think anytime another team dominates another team its impossible to discredit them.

It is the NHL and when you blow-out a team(especially in the playoffs) you have to be at the top of your game.

Everyone in the Habs thread gave full props to the Leafs yesterday.

And no one was happy about it.

I wouldn't bet on Tampa's powerplay to be neutralized this badly again though.

It could be a one-off, but the PK was quicker and faster and better than Tampa's 5 man powerplay unit

I agree with both of you. It would have been so easy to wilt during that 5 minute PK. The fact they turned it up then was huge. Kucherov’s little hissy fit penalty at the end of that major told me they had no answer.

For sure.

There is a difference between a team playing bad hockey and a team getting outplayed so badly they looked to be playing bad hockey.

Last night was the later.

Leafs are quick and Tampa plays heavy, it could be the difference as long as the Leafs don't get pulled into the muck too much

I think Tampa was watching tape of previous playoff games or maybe just the 8-1 game. The Leafs have been good against good teams.

TBL are heavier and older than they've been in the past, so they really do need that PP clicking to do damage.

It was a glorious combination of pure will power, amazing goaltending and a little luck.

I feel like it was the best run the NHL has seen since 1993 to be honest.

- Scabeh

And, most importantly in round one, an opposition team that shat the bed and puked all over itself. Unless that's what you mean by "luck" of course.

Just sayin'.

Message from Tampa side is that they made it easy on Leafs in Game 1 and mistakes were self-inflicted.

Seems like Tampa isnt giving Toronto any credit.

I poop kicking on Wednesday would be awesome.

Dear Mr Stone:

The Committee has reviewed your application for Leaf fandom. You show many of the traits that would make an immediate member. There is one slight problem related to the very recent success of the team you have chosen to support. We are prepared to offer a deferred membership, convertible in say 56 years depending on the success of any team you cheer for in the meantime.

No way man, I like this guy, waiting period waived IMO.

They basically won that battle too.
