That's right, keep these (frank)ers in Boston in the dark about what you're working on.

I might be getting a bit ahead of myself here, but has any team ever won a 4 round cup playoff without losing a game?
- TheMussel

The full 16 wins to a cup didn't start until 1987; in 1988 the Oilers went 16-2.

I do recall that the 76 Habs went 12-1 in the playoffs.

If the 76 Habs couldn't be perfect, no one ever will.

I liked the way we skated, hard, north-south all night. Tampa looked slow and unsure. And we gave them basically *nothing* off the rush last night, which is fantastic. I don't really think trading 2 on 1s with Tampa is a great way to go. Above all - we just need to keep skating, skating, skating hard and fast like last night.

Dear Mr Stone:

The Committee has reviewed your application for Leaf fandom. You show many of the traits that would make an immediate member. There is one slight problem related to the very recent success of the team you have chosen to support. We are prepared to offer a deferred membership, convertible in say 56 years depending on the success of any team you cheer for in the meantime.

- Canada Cup

There was a long drought of failure prior to 2004 and after 2004 until Vinik bought the team and turned things around. Still though, it aint 56 years, which is absolutely brutal. If the Leafs can bring last night's game to every game in the playoffs, then they win the Cup.

True that.

Fun fact, in the Habs' dynasty run in the 70's year by year, they lost 1, 2, 3 and then 4 games each year they won the cup.

Usually, it's casual drinking. Last night, the Leafs made me drink 3/4's of a bottle of Basil Hayden's.

- GalacticStone

You might need 3 more bottles... Especially when Tampa's home games will be pro Leaf fans and the chants will be over the top... Go Leafs Go....Go Leafs Go....Go Leafs Go.... Time again to tip that glass my friend...

man, must have been tough that first 11 seasons.
then have to wait another 11 seasons ...man...thats rough

only 3 cup wins.

since 2004 the Leafs have zero playoffs round wins... but I can see how its been rough for TB fans

Well, regardless of how the series goes, I will get a consolation prize. I genuinely want to see the Leafs end their drought......just not at Tampa's expense. But, if it does, I will enjoy watching the Leafs go on a deep run.

Jeff Vinik and Steve Yzerman spoiled us pretty quick.

A lot of locals are genuinely fired up about a threepeat. Personally, I think it's very unlikely. This Bolts squad is not the same as previous years and Point is banged up. I don't think this is Tampa's year again.

In the playoffs toronto would stand no chance because they just aren’t built for it. Including the fact they wanted to initiate all post whistle bullpoop but we were the ones that were said to start it. gotta find a way against the leagues golden boys though.

Leafs no chance, not built for it...so League has to help out the golden boy leefs

It was a glorious combination of pure will power, amazing goaltending and a little luck.

I feel like it was the best run the NHL has seen since 1993 to be honest.

Good drafting, strong free agent signings, big trades and the ability to circumvent the cap by roughly $18M are key factors in winning the Cup

Yeah, I get the feeling that might have been Price's last shot. Watching the post-series press conference where Price and Weber both looked absolutely deflated was not enjoyable. You want to beat your opponent, but you could see how badly they both felt for not winning and you couldn't help but feel something for them.

That would be something..

Although, I still don't think the play-in round loss to CBJ counts as making the playoffs
