I answered the survey they sent out. I was brutally honest. I can not support an organization that shirks the basic responsibility of holding its leaders accountable. I feel as if I am telling them that the status quo is ok. It most certainly is not! I do not want an "aggressive retool" or "action bias", or whatever the hell else they want to spin it in to. I want the people that have failed this organization for the last 10 years to be shown the door...enough is enough! |

Bill, am I missing something? You keep stating the lowest the Flyers can pick is 5th, but they have the 4th and can drop 2 spots if two teams below the Flyers win the lottery (first drawing and second drawing). 4 + 2 = 6th, what am I missing? |

I would think any coach worth his salt would have major trepidations about working for this organization as it is currently constructed. They may be in the "beggars can't be choosers" position, and I could see that leading to him coming back. But there is no way he should be allowed to. |

OK, gentlemen, sharpen your #2 pencils - the Official Hockeybuzz NHL 2022 Playoffs Prediction Thread is live:
https://www.hockeybuzz.co...post_id=22264783#22264783
Please note: unlike my other prediction threads, this is NOT Leaf-focused. So fans of all 32 teams are welcome to participate.
There is no prize. There isn't even an evaluation mechanism.
This is strictly a way for you to make your hockey geniusness known to the Hockeybuzz community, so you can tell us all "I told you so" when Nashville wins the Stanley Cup.
The rules are simple: cut and paste the template, and fill it out.
The thread will be locked at 7 pm tonight, and for the rest of the playoffs, you can trash talk anyone who made dumb predictions.
Hope to see you there. |

I think Yeo is coach if the Flyers can't find a big name that will accept the job.

The Flyers are one of the elite teams of the NHL.
Don't kid yourself - any coach would love to go there. |

Come back and gloat when the Leafs reach the 2nd round for the first time in...when some team beat them with a beauty JR goal.

I turned the TV off after Tucker murdered Kapanen - there was no need to watch anything after that, as the hit was true perfection.
To this day, I don't know how the rest of the playoffs went. |

Fun fact: JR walked in when Brian Leetch blew a tire in the neutral zone.
99% of hockey fans forgot that Leetch ever played for the Leafs.
Which is always fun when I mention I hate Leetch (I actually don't), and people say, "WTF, nobody hates Leetch - he was pure class! How could you possibly hate Leetch?" |

"as currently constructed" being the key phrase. What happens if they are awful again next year and the GM finally does get axed? Now you're working for someone who didn't hire you? Most people in their everyday jobs would try to avoid that situation, no? |

Oh I remember that trade deadline like it was yesterday. That was the year Toronto tried to replicate the Rangers of 94 by bringing in big names that were a bit past their prime.

With all due respect, coaching the Flyers is not an everyday job.
In terms of "glamour", they are top tier - in with the Original Six, and ahead of Detroit.
It's very rare than any coach would turn down an offer, and they certainly wouldn't do it for Philly.
If things turn to poop in two years, coaching the Flyers will just enhance your resume - regardless of what your record was.

I know it's a big market, but I don't see Philly as top tier any more. Maybe it's just frustration, but I really don't believe it.

I'd argue "well past their prime" - but yeah, that was their strategy for a (not) good stretch.
Leetch
Housley
Francis
Calle Johansson
Barrasso
Lindros
O'Neill
Czerkawski
There was also a Leafs team that had 10 guys on the roster who had worn the captaincy at some point in their careers.
