Quit for a couple years now.

Never really smoked all the time, just on holidays.

But stopped that too, when my sister died of lung cancer..

One thing is sure .. I wouldn't want HuGo's job right now.

Current Assets
They inherited a lot of unproductive (and EXPENSIVE) assets to deal with over the next few years ... it won't be pretty folks but we need to, somehow, get rid of some of those bad contracts. Some will expire but others are problematic (use draft picks for this purpose?).

At this time, all we can hope from this new adminitration is that they minimize costly errors and do their best with what we have for the time being.

---------------------------

Drafting / Development
This is PRIORITY #1 ... that's a lot of planning and why I wouldn't want the job/responsability. This will make or break the team for the next 10 years.

We're starting from next to ground floor here, we do have some good D prospects and a few NHL worthy top 6 forwards but there's a ton of work to do to make this a contending team.

---------------------------
Carey Price

Time to let go, the guy was a great goalie and the face of the franchise for too long a time (in absence of any other talent). Bergy tried to win a cup with a great goalie and little else ... guess what? ... it didn't work.
Now he's gone and we're stuck with the mess he left behind.

I've said this before and I'll say it again ... Habs won cups in the past because we were deadly on offense (with great D), hiding our flaws behind a good goalie never won us anything. Dryden was good/average but he would have been nothing without the players in front of him.

---------------------------
I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to the Habs ... until they prove me wrong, the current administration has my vote of confidence.

PS: Tome 2 of my 10 books Habs essay is coming soon.

oh damn, really sorry to hear that, Pete...

congrats on quitting though, even if you aren't a big smoker it isn't always easy to do, especially when you have a glass of wine or any kind of alcohol, personally I found that's when the cravings got really bad.

the good news is it's actually 2 different people, with 2 different positions within the organization, they should be fine...

I'm sure she takes good care of him, and makes sure he's wearing his protective helmet.

She makes amazing lasagna apparently ... so she has my vote.

Unfortunately, Pete usually puts me out the door.

3lbs of hamburger thawing on the counter now.

She’s making a big one for tomorrow.

yeah for some people the cravings never really completely disappear. luckily for me I got to the point where the idea of having a smoke is kind of nauseating, I don't mind when friends smoke around me but I definitely wouldn't light one up.

I'm still a smoker, I'm a sad product of my generation ... yeah, I know I'm (frank)ing stupid. What can I say, no excuse.

It is what it is ... however I do respect other's boundaries from my vice (ie. I always smoke outside during family gatherings, etc), however when I'm outside (out of the way) leave me ALONE !!!

yeah, I started smoking in my teen years, it's probably been almost 10 years now that I've quit. I wasn't a heavy smoker but I'm still glad I got rid of that poop... btw, it's never too late to quit you know

personally it was vaping that did the trick for me, I'd vape whenever I'd have a craving, and when I'd have a few drinks I would vape instead of smoking cigarettes. you may think you wouldn't like vaping or whatever but it might be something you could consider trying. there's a bunch of tobacco/rum flavors out there that are pretty decent, it doesn't have to be wacky flavors like fruit loops or skittles lol

Now that you mention it, I might look into vaping ... my sister has been doing it for a few years.

I'll talk to her about it.

I'm no expert but I can always try to help out if you ever have any questions.

what's also nice about it is that once you've quit smoking you can always slowly reduce your nicotine intake and eventually quit vaping as well. I still have my vape but I rarely use it anymore.
