What is that? 15 -20 players? I haven't even thought about Mark Stone yet.

Also, who are Stevenson and Dadanov?

Ek must not have taken his meds. That is the worst piece I have ever read. It's like a 5 year old wrote it with a crayon.

What a surprise! The Golden Knights are missing three top-six forwards (Stone, Pacioretty and Smith), four top-six defensemen (McNabb, Martinez, Whitecloud and Hague) plus their starting goaltender (Lehner). They have not started a single game all year with the full complement of players. Yet they are still within striking distance of the playoffs. I challenge any of the favorites for the cup run to play without three top-six forwards, four top-four defensemen and their starting goalie and still be within a shot of the playoffs.

The Dadonov trade was a goof, no doubt. To rectify the mistake, the Knights should put Dadanov on waivers, with a stated goal of sending him to the AHL. Should a team like Arizona or Seattle grab him off waivers, that's just tough. There is no "no trade clause" when a player is put on waivers. If Dadanov didn't want to play for Anaheim, how will he like playing for an even worse team?

Meanwhile, by getting rid of Dadonov, enough cap space opens up for Martinez to return (if he's recovered) and a return of Stone (if/when he's ready). The Knights gain by ending the Dadanov experiment - he never seemed to fit in with any combination of players.

This is like me in NHL GM mode. Sign the top FAs and then trade them shortly after to accumulate picks. By year 2 or 3 no FAs “trusted” me as GM and refused to sign lol.

Also, is there any evidence at all that Stone has actually been healthy enough to play but is stuck on IR due to cap space? It's a nice narrative just because of Kucherov, but there is no actual evidence. If he was 100% healthy and ready to go, Vegas would have moved Dadonov earlier. They just showed a willingness to pay a 2nd to get rid of him. Could they have done the same deal a month ago, with a little extra sweetener, if it meant adding a TOP TEN player (lol) to make some playoff revenue?

You cannot excuse Vegas missing a step on Dadonov on the basis that someone should have told them (boo hoo).

Garrioch (Ottawa Sun) points out the specific 10 team trade restriction was noted in the contract, with the league and even on Capfriendly. It was well known.

Seems to me somebody in Vegas is not doing their homework. But, ignorance does not permit an exception or justification. There needs to be serious sanctions on Vegas resulting from this really messy situation.

lawl, not so fast.

Also, without circumventing the cap, you don't have those players.

but good luck with that.

I started thinking last year that Vegas is fast tracking their way out of being contenders. They've really gutted their depth.

Overachieving and being lucky ( in Vegas out of all places), is not a team identity, not sure what you mean by '' Vegas forgot who they were '' .

Also nobody is sobbing over this Frankenstein of an expansion franchise that was given everything to succeed because the Nhl is that dull in NA, heck MLS just smoked them in terms of popularity amongst major sports leagues .
