One could argue about the goaltending, surely. But at the same time, we were told that the plan was to not be good this year - he might very well be following marching orders.

I said the other day that I don't think this season could have realistically gone any better than it has. Most nights we are watchable and I think we found out that we have a lot of key pieces going forward.

Definitely.

Especially on the D side. Samuelsson looks awesome most nights. He’s probably better than a 3rd pairing guy

He probably plays second pair minute for Power’s rookie season at least

And if CA wasn't 80yrs old, I would bring him back. The guy can still play.
- Buff36

He may not want to play, anyway. Wasn't he close to retirement before Adams called?

When does Vegas feel the heat of missing out on a playoff spot and try to get Mark Stone back in the lineup? I might be cynical because of Tampa, but did they think they could get by the regular season cap without having to make moves? I hope that screws them and hope the NHL changes the cap rules for the playoffs

I think part of their long-term problem is that every season they want to go out and get a shiny new toy. They paid these guys a lot of money and if they aren't clicking on all cylinders that don't have money to get quality bottom 6. Other than Carrier - he was probably the best player on the ice last night.

He surely has looked good. I am still shocked at how good his skating is as that was supposed to be the worst part of his game.

There was a report that they are after a veteran D to pair with Power. Should be interesting to see who they bring in - it wouldn't surprise me if they made a Josh Gorges-type move (although I am sure they are aiming higher).

I think they are aiming much higher than a Gorges type.

The tweet I posted yesterday said they are looking for a top pair or high end can’t remember how it was worded

Currently in 4th last could finish anywhere from there to 8th. Don't see us finishing in the bottom 3.

Coyotes have won 4 straight and Montreal is 7-3 in the last ten .

Only team that hasn't improved is Seattle .

I would seriously consider moving him to Dahlin's line. Try em out for some games see how they play and how he handles better opposition. Samuel looked awesome last night. laying the body left and right. That hit on Marchessault was a beauty too. Frank Vegas.

Seeing pictures from last nights locker room ….. maybe just maybe this invigorates the team and brings them together?

(I don’t mean playoffs or anything like that)

The Eichel situation points out an interesting aspect of sports fanhood. What is our role?

Are we obligated to root for the home team in full force even if they are bad? And are also obligated to agree with and support the wishes of players that dont want to be here anymore?

So we have to accept losing and accept not being wanted when we don’t make personnel or management decisions?

Agreed. I told a coworker the same thing with regards to Carrier. He was a bull out there. Always around the puck and heavy on the forecheck

I think Sabres fans have become a chaotic neutral force. Ready to turn on anyone at any time and unleash 11 years of anger at anything they see fit.

This team, a different team, owners, former players. Everyone is getting a taste of the anger.

this is the tricky part

I think when they become toxic you almost have to move them out but the owner literally holds all the cards during the time of contract

we all heard the rumors miller wanted out last year, have not heard a peep on that front ever since

you have your guys that act like Eichel and McGahee when they leave town

and you have your Bruce Smiths, Reeds and Thomas's that say nothing bad once out of town

Not much chatter about the extra punches thrown to Fitz’s face when he on the ice after the fight and being separated by the linesman. And he’s injured now. I would hope dops looks at this further. And of course, why no extra penalty at the time? Should have been the instigator and more for the extra punches

The organization kind of set up a lot of this when it comes to Jack. This "not wanting to be here" stuff is stupid. He didn't want to play for them anymore and any one of us would have done the same. If Tuch is here for 6 years and sees the same garbage he would want out as well. I am not making excuses for the other stuff - I am just saying that I don't blame the guy for not wanting to stay. It isn't personal to the fans or the city.

They did get an extra 2. Usually if there is a penalty on the play the dops doesn't get involved. Even though they should. Fitz didn't mean to knee on knee the guy.

My only problem with him is that he seems to have admitted that his heart wasn't in it last year and that he wasn't hurt. Again, maybe he felt the same hopelessness that we felt with Ralphie behind the bench and playing that system. I don't know what happened behind closed doors but he seemed like a guy that always busted his arse for this team.

Make some adjustments Adams, give this young team a little help and let's see what next year brings. Go get a goalie, RD and top 6 RW and let's roll.
- Buff36

Totally agree. None of the above even need to be huge name players.

Management has to try and ice a good team next season, right?
