I've been meaning to ask this question for a while. I invariably see statements about Meatballs and Adams that go something like this: "they are fine for now, but when we get good we might want to upgrade". I don't get it - Meatballs is easily the best coach we've had since Lindy and Adams is doing a fine job. I can't imagine wandering back out into the wilderness and getting another retread. It isn't like Meatballs is Nolan and his strategy is "go out there and skate harder". The guy always seems to be pressing the right buttons. - Slump Buster
Go take ten minutes and walk around the Flyers thread and tell me you'd rather be them.

Last nights comments prove everything we all thought:
Eichel-good hockey player, bad leader
He comes off as a spoiled rich American kid and like it or not Buffalo embraces the all american/good ole canadian boy mentality. The hard working, underdog mentality. It's why Allen, Tuch and even Okposo are respected here.
Everything Eichel tried to do while in Buffalo off the ice seemed forced, Allen is sincere.
You can win with an Eichel on your team but you need strong leadership. Eichel as your leader and the team takes on his attitude and last night showed it.
Love to see Tuch and Krebs score while Eichel cried in his post game.
Loudest the building has ever been? Maybe he forget the 10 game winning streak and the Skinner goal in OT. Instead of being part of the solution he contributed to the problem. Coach after coach one of which he personally ran off.
He won't but it's time for Jack to look in the mirror a bit.
The next game in Buffalo Jack should be prepared for even more boos.

I generally agree, but as the retired pros continue to say, you can't underestimate a strong culture. Sorry to use the C word. And Tuch is the face of it. He will be a big cog in the potential turnaround here because these kids will be looking up to a personality like him instead of Jack. - TheSabresTaco
I'm not trying to diminish Tuch's role at all. In fact, if he's not named captain next year, I will be shocked. I think he's earned it already. However, this team still needs more high-end talent, which the Eichel trade didn't really get them. Again, whether that's Owen Power and/or someone else in draft/free agency/trade, he's not on this roster yet. And until he is, that trade, and the game last night, is nothing more than a feel-good story. As many story lines came out of last night, that trade can not (and I believe will not) be the most significant move they make.

They're doing a "good job" because expectations are lower than they've ever been. I mean, the bar isn't even six inches off the ground. Now, you can argue that they deserve a chance to see this through, and I would agree with that, but neither guy has done anything when expectations are any level above nonexistent. - buffalofan19
I don't agree with this. Ron Rolston would have been "not Ralph". In the course of one year this team went from the worst point in our history to one filled with hope. Adams has had two fantastic drafts. We've stayed the course. Maybe it won't all work out, I don't know. But I can't imagine going back out into the wilderness to look for a coach or gm again.

Nobody crowned him King. I am saying that I don't understand the daydreaming about other GMs. He came in during a tough spot and I like just about everything he has done.

I dont think anyone is daydreaming about anything.
I think the notion is the pressure is turned up quite a bit next year. Lets see if they can handle it.
Its very easy to sell and be bad and have zero expectation and not really pay players.
Its very hard to build it back up and pay the right players.
