His contract and on ice performance are why a return of Olofsson, their 1st and their 2nd won't get it done.

There will be a line out the door for Theodore if he is available.

If I'm Vegas, I counter with Samuelsson and Peterka for Theodore, as they need quality players on ELC deals, not a forward who might save them $2M at most on the cap for next season.

Completely agree - if I am Vegas I ask for that kind of package and if I am the Sabres I am not moving those two. Maybe Mitts and Joker?

That's why I wouldn't trade for Theodore, because the cost will be prohibitive.

It's why players that have been mentioned such as Mayfield, Petry, etc. make more sense from an asset perspective.

I'm not sure if the Sabres are sold on olofsson's down season. They have the medical records and can't give away a proven 20+ goal scorer.

I think he fits well, which is important. The other swedes have a comfortable fit together from what I understand.

- Boss34

He has size and finishing ability. If Tuch could finish like Vic, he would already have 5 more goals as a Sabre. Right now, all of our skill forwards except Tallness, Tuch, and Vic are small. That's ok, but we can't lose size without bringing more size back at wing.

Again, this is on my personal belief Vic was playing not 100% for about 20 games. No evidence for it other than timing of his bad play.

If he (Mayfield) won't sign an extension with the Sabres beyond next season, I'm not overpaying for essentially one season from him.
- kingcong39

Point taken

Maybe the draw of playing with dhalen/power
And playing for a upcoming team does it

Jokiharju, sure, but if no quality forward prospect is on the table, then they ask for the Sabres 2023 1st.

Oh sure, but I am making those kind of calls, maybe it opens the door to Korczak Coghlan Mirmarnov.

I'd have a discussion with Mayfield prior to the trade about extending him.

If he doesn't seem interested or the Islanders don't allow the conversation to take place, then no deal.

still on the justin braun bandwagon here...not sure of his analytics but he's a solid defensive d-man who's on the top pk unit for the fly-boys...he's making $1.8m now and could probably be had on a two-year deal for $2-2.5m in buffalo...

not sure how much he's got left in him at 35, but that type of vet presence for power is what they're looking for

totally agree...counter-point, having backstrom feeding ovie all these years isn't chopped liver either

just look at mass mutual commercial...

This is correct. Backy and Tom Wilson evened things out to Malkin, Letang, etc. Those years where Ovie was dropping 60 goals with Semin and Mike Green is where Sid, Geno, MaF just ate them up in the playoffs. In those games though, over a couple seasons and multiple playoff series, Ovie was a monster while Green and Semin might as well have been wearing Penguins jerseys.

There's simply no criticizing Sid's game though. The guy has been HoF great every friggen season and playoffs of his career. He can center the first line on any team ever assembled in any debate.

It's interesting you think Olofsson looks bigger then 5'11 and 180 considering he plays smaller than that.

How many times does he win a board battle?

Draft Slafkovsky, bringing in Pererka, while not huge will probably play close to 200/210 lbs his whole career. Boom size.

Girard is playing 21 minutes a night.

Does Miller even begin to move the needle?

I doubt he does.

Braun is a purely defensive defenseman.

His age scares me, but that is the avenue the Sabres are going to likely need to take.

Selfishly, it would be fun to see Gudbranson as the RHD for Power for a couple of seasons.
