Agreed, 110%. I was hoping the Hawks would snag him in his draft year but Vancouver got him first. Hoglander isn’t working out in Vancouver and I think they’d trader him for the right price. But what is that price?

Rockford has lost 6 of 7 and playing themselves out of a playoff spot, and giving up lots of goals. Seems like the young defenseman down there need even more time. I am so glad KD had taken an axe to the scouting dept. Now maybe they can stop the disinformation campaign and admit our pipeline currently makes us the Coyotes/Buffalo of this decade.

But let’s blame bench coaching for lack of talent in the system.

Making a blanket statement based on a 7 game stretch (especially without actually watching the games) is a tough sell.

Who is at fault for those goals? Who is in net? Etc..

I am beginning to think this is the correct mindset. First it was Q, then it was JC, and now its King but the 1 thing constant is the lack of quality NHL players and able bodies down in the A to replace the older players or prospects who don't pan out. System is just barren and so many guys are over their skis in the lineup......

Again, earlier on it was the cost of winning, but that excuse has to cease as we are approaching 6 years since this team was headed into the playoffs with a target on them...not a a freebie in a bubble thanks to Edmonton.

Takes a lot of the polish off of Bowman when you really step back and see what you have here.....

Here's a perfect example on the whole "established coaching" thing AL was referencing....look at Calgary....now that they are ready to win they bring in Sutter to fine tune their approach and focus on chasing cups. Similar can happen here again...but the key will be finding the right coach to develop these guys but also not destroying their confidence when they fail.

Records aside.....I would VERY intrigued if a guy like Powers poked a few scouts about what they see in Rockford in the Hawks system. We know Reichel is legit....who else?

Especially this time of year when scouts are out looking at everything with the deadline approaching....so many of these deadline deals burn the buyer because the seller gets back a better LT building block piece because teams are geared up to go for it now....

Correct only seen them on TV. But have been to about 15 Ontario Reign games so am comparing to what I see in the AHL west. Those are farm teams of the Kings, Ducks, Oilers, Colorado, Canuck’s etc.

Is almost every prognosticator wrong in saying the Hawks pipeline is in the lower third if not lower in the league?

Agreed, just look at the LA Kings with a veteran coach. Look at their defensive system. Change jerseys with the Hawks and you wouldn’t know the difference. And they have Olli Matta playing in it, another player this BOD didn’t like cause he doesn’t skate pretty

Too many men because Kubalik still thinks hes #4 forward behind 88,12,19 where it's 38 now.....that was the issue.

Was a little alarmed at the amount of ice time they were giving Caleb Jones at the end of the game. Seemed a bit excessive to me.

Only defenseman besides his brother that can remotely pass a puck. When both were in the box, they used deHaan on the point, unless you are going to use McCabe, Stillman or Murphy.

If Kyle really knows hockey, especially scouting and has an eye for it, we really aren't that far away. The key is KD

And when i say not that far away, 5 years when you really see things taking shape

I have, for the last 5 yrs. ........It always, always starts with ownership. Always.
- Mr Ricochet

Well, the team has been bad for 5 years, but the Organization just this year has become the WORST in all of professional sports. It is a total disgrace and I'll be amazed if their season ticket base doesn't drop by 50 % or more next year. This team may not see the playoffs for 5 to 10 years ? Time to sell Mr. Wirtz while you have some value left. Actually..........it may probably already be too late. So Sad.

The scrum was a riot....Murphy chirping earlier in the period and backing off a potential dance partner, like he does almost every game.....guy is a disaster. I get the need to have some veterans to play in front of a goalie, but Murphy doesn't do a lot of things well....if any. I hope they are flying under the radar and deal him.

This is really a team of individuals. Lack of player leadership, lack of cohesion, and anyone who thinks this team is still good....you just saw what happens when Fleury doesn't play. Lankinen is just pure $hit.

It's too bad it would be impossible to get an uninformed (i.e., hindsight 20/20 and all that) list of who KD would have drafted in the years since he's been here and how similar or different it would have been to what Kelley and Bowman did.

He is a self-proclaimed talented scout, but we have no ability to see that proven except with time and the choice he and his team make.

This article definitely isn't kind to the recent Hawks history in this department: https://theathletic.com/3...source=emp-shared-article

Kelley got complacent, lost his mojo, or something...

I’m not saying Stillman should be out there at the end of the game, but every time I watch him he makes a good first pass, the kid is a keeper.

I agree about Stillman, but since none of the remaining D men probably never practiced the power play, he might of just pulled a name out of the hat.

That would be mostly on Stewart (the chief pro scout) as Nylander was mostly in the A the year the trade was made.

Great point

And, he clearly saw that our prospect shelves were depleted and removed the people who he believed were accountable for that. +1 in his column. That he left the Euro scouting intact was also a +1.

So KD relied solely on Stewart's thought of Nylander to trade him,
then fired him when he became the official gm?

Just a silly thought, if all along i was planning on firing Stewart if i was given the reigns, i personally wouldn't trade anyone unless i was the one with the belief the player wasn't going to amount to much
