FWIW Pope is saying the MAF situation is still up in the air despite the referenced tweet.

Leafs gave up 6, one an empty netter, in their loss to Vancouver. Maybe they can use a goalie and defenseman.

There is no maybe about that. And Coach Keefe knows it in spades.

Thoroughly enjoyable watching the Leafs in action lately. Gave up 7 to Detroit, 5 to Buffalo and 6 tonight. That 54 year losing streak will remain intact.

@AlCimaglia

What a clown show...The Front Office can talk rebuild and anything else but unless some higher caliber coaches land in Chgo and Rokfrd it won't mean much.
That's a challenge considering how top coaches won't come here.

Anyone on here with any idea why Al would make the last statement? I find it hard to believe that coaches won't come to Chicago? Did Q put the word out after the battles with the rest of the FO or something?

- pdx2ord

I think this is frustration tweeting. I get where he's coming from seeing dumb penalties and such. Or watching your team give up the lead time after time because they are young undisciplined team.

JC was a bad coach, King is much better, the kids just don't value the middle of the ice enough and aren't consistent shift after shift, how does a coach get this through to his team.

Part of a rebuild is to find these players, and/Or maybe you have some of the players they just need time and experience.

It's why i think we are so fortunate not to have Bowman here anymore.

I know many complain about the line blenders, but to me it's a valuable tool to see which players are truly helping or hurting the team

My guess is that Fleury stays and re-signs.

If we can sign him for 2 years at $3 per that wouldn't be so bad

I didn't know he wanted to only play 1 more year.

So one more year at $3 mil would be great, or is that too much for the official Blackhawks blog person

Easier to bargain down than up - I'd be ok with one or two.

Love the other one ... one tip for the ... heard from a reliable source one thing happens, then heard from another reliable source that the opposite happens... guy: stick to flipping a coin, you don;t have to use as many words in your posts that way.

@simmonssteve

Source: Marc-Andre Fleury has told the Chicago Blackhawks he doesn’t want to be dealt at the NHL’s trade deadline - which essentially removes Fleury from the market.

No surprise - sounds like his family enjoys Chicago and that's his first consideration

- pdx2ord

I don't know Simmons as well as Paulie does. Must be his other neighbor bookending his house with Uncle Bob on the other side.

It's most certainly fake news at the very least as I keep reading here how players, coaches, etc. don't want to be associated with the Blackhawk organIzation.

Some interesting reading from Powers in The Athletic this am on the recent dismissal of Mark Kelley and some quotes from KD...

It’ll be interesting to see whom Davidson appoints in Kelley’s place. Davidson will probably take on a larger role within the department regardless of who he brings in. When speaking of his strengths, Davidson brought up amateur scouting. It wouldn’t be surprising if his philosophical thoughts on amateur scouting didn’t line up with those of Kelley and Bowman.

“I do think I have a good perspective on players and an eye for talent, especially at the amateur level, which is where I grew up watching hockey,” Davidson said. “I grew up watching OHL hockey and junior hockey, and I think that’s a really good perspective in terms of seeing players at that age progressing on to NHL careers or not progressing on to NHL careers and why not, that kind of stuff.”

I don't think Strome's game has changed at alll- opinions of it did...unless we are talking about scoring goals.

Despite the slow last one out tag, he has short area speed, and uses it. He is smart with the puck.

I think that huddle after his first goal was a photo the real forward core going forth next year.

At 18:30 left of the 2nd pd. #8 on left wing couldn't get it a goal scored, so trying to showcase him out of the most comfortable position, right wing, didn't work out as well as expected. (dunno if I posted this yesterday)
With the line up now knowing the playoffs are fantasy, I think they were relaxed, UNTIL Flyers started playing nasty.
I thought the refs either didn't realize that there was a storm building, or their uncles earlier didn't nip it. Flyers keep going rough.

Dach is doing what he is able and believe me, Sanheim and his fellow girlfriends needed a few wake up calls.
The burst the "slow" Dach put on to thrwo that return check, showed what is there in his game when he doesn't "pace."

If the New England area bias was emerging in Marc Kelly, and he was no longer in touch, well, bye.

You simply don't know where he was in the stanBo era, in terms of him having a almsot final say, though.

Fresh new perspective there is a good thing. (like I was giving Wheeler&Pronman and got banned from posting.)

I will say one last time 2023 picks will be better values in the long run in the top four rounds.

Well it looks like the only way they get a first round in the 2022 is if they DO trade Hagel.

You give away a piece that you know what is there, and he is replaced by an unknown for the future, and Hagel plays for cheap elsewhere.

It is all about where YOU see Hagel in six years I guess.

(or if tickets are sold in that period to see him...)

and IF Nils Hoglander is truly on the market, I would inquire.

He is small skilled speedy and a perfect future bumper player on the power play.

I’m thinking a 1 year at $5 million, he’s still a legit #1 goalie.

Right on. No coincidence, and you don't nFor the last stretch Strome has shown reasons he went 3rd overall. eed a scouts eye, his feet have been moving during his fine play. If engaged he truly is a top 6 C.

That's the million dollar question, is he just playing for a contract? Who can know what's in a person's head? Coincidentally in his contract yr he's improved near 6 percent better at the dot. Folks give reasons he's played poorly, JC, trade rumors, deployment, being scratched. .....

If that were me I'd be churnin, movin my feet and going full tilt to get traded, to move into the top 6, to stop being scratched, would have worked at getting better at the dot. He did none of that the last 2 yrs but of course the organIzation has been a train wreck too. .......... His lifetime fancies are poor despite Ozone starts way above 50% in his career. https://www.naturalstattr...d=8478440&sit=5v5&stype=2

I'd also add he's played 246 games and is in the breakout window.

Indeed, a riddle. If I had to make the call I'd give him no more than a prove it 2 yr bridge contract. If the soon to be 25 yr old lives up to it I'd move him for a 1st plus in a yr and a half......... A big caveat with Strome is Johnny. If the organIzation doesn't think Toews will ever be right again probably a good idea to pay Strome cuz after these two they have Dach and Reichel.

I think the safest thing to do is give him a 2 yr contract when all things are considered unless you think you can use the money to pay a middle 6 C from the open market. That player would probably have a higher floor and lower ceiling than Strome.

- Mr Ricochet

I don't care what he does he will never show reason that he was a #3 pick. Drafted way too high.

Agreed, 110%. I was hoping the Hawks would snag him in his draft year but Vancouver got him first. Hoglander isn’t working out in Vancouver and I think they’d trader him for the right price. But what is that price?
