With his play right now Kane’s is resembling a young Blackhawks version of Teravainen. The way he is shying away from the tough areas and avoiding contact. This not a knock on Kane. I just think his “unspecified” injury is making him super cautious. It is a shame. When they are eliminated I hope he has surgery to repair whatever is ailing him. I would think the timing would be right. Next year is the last year of his contract and the Hawks aren’t going anywhere. It would help them tank. He could miss part of the year. Then comeback in the second half in time to show he is healthy and worthy of another contract with the Hawks or some other team. Length and amount of contract to be determined.

So you don't think Kane and Toews will be Blackhawk's for life?

Not sure. I said that Kane could sign again with the Hawks or another team. Depends on their health, contract expectations in dollars and term, and their desire to play with a contender.

Yes and no yes I think they will stay and playout their contracts. No the hawks need to move them and get assets back for future going forward for the Blackhawks.

Move Toews to 3C and bump Dach to wing already. Dach is not a capable NHL center and the same goes for Entwhistle.

So is this the NHLs new year resolution? deHaan fined for his slew foot, Ovi fined for his shoulder to shoulder hit on Trent Federic? Both not called penalties in the game.

Blackhawks lines in morning skate vs. Ducks:

Hagel-Reichel-Kane
DeBrincat-Toews-Kubalik
Borgstrom-Lafferty-Kurashev
Khaira-Carpenter-Entwistle

De Haan-Murphy
Stillman-Galvas
Caleb Jones-Gustafsson
Mitchell

ETA @BenPopeCST
Lafferty has been bumped up to 3C. King said he sees him more as a center. "He skates well, so I like that."

He says "skates well" a lot - I feel like he might be undervaluing passing and scoring and defending

Looks like StanBo picked at least one reclamation project who might have worked out if the team had persevered:

@FlaPanthersPR
Anthony Duclair (1-2-3) produced his third 3+-point performance of the season tonight, and his +26 rating is tied for the most among @NHL skaters. His +6 rating tonight is the highest of any NHL skater in a game in 2021-22.

Kane is shying away from tough areas to avoid injury because he's on a minus 33 team going nowhere.

If he's hurt - keeping him in the lineup is pointless.

It's time for Davidson to approach Kane towes fleury about being moved to a contender at the tdl or sooner plus the offseason.

In the end it's up to those three if they want to go and mostly where they go.

Another young player that was rushed to the NHL. They come up too early and start thinking too much vs reacting, it takes a bit of time to get there.

DuClair never did much at multiple stops until now in Florida. I had no problem letting him go. Now Forsling, that's another matter. The hawks best shot from the point since Doug Wilson. He was worth the patience. Oh well.

I did not have an issue with letting Duclair go either, but the Rangers rushed him, and then he went to Arizona, which didn’t help.

The NYR just signed and promoted a first round dman, B Schneider. He joins fellow first round dmen D Miller and Trouba. Fox though was traded for and I believe a #2 round pick.

We shall see if the newest kids for the Blueshirts amount to much of anything.

Ken Holland has stated the Oil is not moving futures to shore up his team for a run. He'll convince Dominik Hašek to make a come back 1st.

Huh? He scord 20g on AZ. Between OTT and CBJ in 2019 he potted 19g. 23g in 66 games in 2020 for OTT.

He had a great season in FLA last year and is almost PPG this year.

The Hawks should of kept him around and tried to develop him. Instead he played 23 games and was let go.

Guy has legit talent and speed. He just needed to be coached up. Didn't get that in AZ or CHI.

Instead we got the Kahuns and Suters of the world to fill in the middle 6 forward spots.

Hawks have no forwards that opposing D are scared of getting turnstiled by. That is why we continued to see aggressive pinches by opposing D.

Reichel was just called up and he is probably the fastest Hawk skater on the roster. I don't consider him to even have elite speed.

In his 1st game as a Blackhawk, Sam Lafferty had a Corsi For of 64.71%, with 11 shots for and 6 against. His XGf was 65.72%.

Small sample size, and it was le Habitants, but maybe the interim GM found something.

That's why every freaking Blackhawk forward who enters the zone with the puck along the boards stops half way into the zone and looks to pass. None are fast enough to beat the D wide, as you point out.

Maybe another guy who came up to soon? Not sure how old he was when the Rangers brought him up.

The problem, or at least part of it, was the Hawks still considered their window open when they traded him.

Anyway, it should be a cautionary tale for some of the "trade Dach", "Dach's a bust" crowd but I'm sure that's wishful thinking on my part.

Different players but Dach has shown signs of being an impact player at times, but we all know players don't grow or develop after the age of 20.
