It sill exists, but it is fairly small... and shrinking by the year as the old dreamers are dying off.

It's a shame, because it used to be a great project. Now it's been turned into fearmongering and xenophobia

You talking about me?? I don’t think I’d be in favour of separating. Would be too complex. But I’d be in favour of a new national deal.

That graphic actually paints a pretty fair picture of it I’d think though. No one outside of Quebec would be happy if Alberta separated.

I looked at it and said for all our massive faults at least people in Ontario have a basic understanding of economics

The biggest impact for Ontario would be if Alberta pulls out of the CPP like Quebec did. Alberta pays a largely disproportionate amount into it than it take out from retirees. There was a study that showed ontarians CPP contributions would go up by 50% (give or take) if Alberta pulled out of the CPP. And that may happen regardless of any separation talk.

It was always about xenophobia, the fear mongering came later.

I wasn't looking to go too in depth on individual issues as much to say I think any Canadian thinking they'd be better off if Alberta separated (including Albertans) likely aren't thinking about the economics of it...but compared to Quebec, yes, the collective contribution to the whole from Alberta is night and day so it'd likely be even more painful from an economic standpoint

Lockdown starts tomorrow here. I’m heading out to the grocery store to stock up on ICP, coffee and storm chips.

Not looking to get into it either. Agree it would not be good for anyone.
