Kane sure plays like he'd rather be elsewhere. They should go to him and make it so.

Who would want him?

Touche. I can at least own up when I am wrong or too critical.

Sorry, I wasn't really aiming that at you. The jury is still out on that trade/signing, imo. My uneducated eye thinks he's pretty good, but he did cost a ton.

Happy Saturday, Bread!

Jones is very good offensively, he’s adequate defensively and he adds a physical presence. But what was the point in his acquisition with the talent currently around him? By the time the Hawks have enough talent Jones will be in the twilight of his career. He’s a decent enough player but he doesn’t do anything for the Hawks at this time.

Maybe, maybe not.

3 years from now, compare the lineup to today, bet its much different.

I see him as being better than adequate defensively - I think he’s been very good the last 15 games or so.

He’s just 28 - If they can get / develop some talent in the next 3 years, he’ll be 31 - not yet in his twilight, I would hope. I know, no first round pick this year - but still…get some talent in other ways, develop some of what you have in the system and at Rockford.

Jones can still be a part of a good future here.

Well, the SN guys just spilled the beans on Kane's injury. Said he's been battling hip problems and that, if it were not an Olympic year, he probably would have gotten the necessary surgery.

All good, Mo, no apologies necessary. Just because I respond with a defense/explanation doesn't mean I took anything personally or as an attack. I majored in English, I can read

I did get one right though. I said the goals would be coming in. Breadictions are back!

If he needs the surgery, he should get the surgery: he hasn’t been “Kane-like” since half-way through last season.

I understand wanting the Olympics - but if this team is going to be anything, it needs Kane to be jumping, scoring goals, controlling the play - and he hasn’t been doing that for 60 games.

That is, assuming the SN report is correct….

With 16:00 to go in the 3rd Hawks outshooting em 27-15 and held TOR to 3 SOG in the 2nd!!

LA , missed the 2nd but seemed to me in the 1st the Slavin line was out v the Matthews line a good bit. You notice that and if so is that King or Keefe wanting that matchup?

I did, I think Keefe, he is also trying to match Kampf against Toews. King’s adjustment is switching Dach and Strome.

I’ll put aside his defense for now.

Where are they going to get talent in the next three years? In three years it’s unlikely Kane will be a top contributor. ADB will be a top line winger. They have Dach who hopefully can put it together in the next three years and be a top six forward, preferably center. Hopefully Reichel is a top six player. Maybe Strome figures it out? Maybe Nylander shows up as a top six winger after a good AHL season? Other than Jones I don’t see a top pairing defenseman, although one or two could be developed? They probably don’t get a first round pick this season, although perhaps a trade for one can be worked out? There are three or four really good prospects in next years draft headed by Connor Bedard but the hawks probably won’t be that bad, because of Jones being in the lineup. There are an awful lot of question marks. Not sure I’m as confident in there being a solid group of players around Jones in three years as you are.

poop. I understand the mindset of Lank, but really needed him in net on that one. Not a lot of time left to risk that play. Hoping to tie it up here.

Agreed, but then, I feel that way about all the guys who sit on lingering injuries that negatively affect their play. Wish Seabrook would have dealt with his before his career was all but over. Who knows if he could have prolonged it.

Maybe, if the Hawks are out of the playoffs at the TDL, he'll go do it and they can test out the rest of the roster to see who should be retained over the summer.

Normally, you would expect that type of deficit would keep them out of the rest of the game. Definitely nice to see them fight back. There are some resilient guys on the team, which is nice to see. Fluke play sucks, but I'm more focused on who proves to be a keeper and how to build around them. Anything else is just bonus points, I guess.

Any Canadian feed simply rocks but I especially like this Leafs crew. Is that Simpson on color? ....... Just mentioned this is only the 3rd time in 27 games the Hawks have scored 4 goals.

I miss something? Why is Bunting with Kase and Matthews. He started the game with the Tavares line.

The National CBC broadcast teams are good, the regional Canadian broadcast crews are terrible homers, just like American broadcasters.
