Oh yeah, I remember that season. Peca, their captain, was injured in the 2002 playoffs (by Tucker), and they were playing like crap without him to start the next season. When he finally was able to play, they went on a tear and made the playoffs.

One key difference however..... There were no 3-point games in those days, so it was easier to make up ground.
