Nope. They're going to sit around on their asses for 5 days, have one practice, and get thrown right back to the wolves.

I agree. Postponing Thursday's game against San Jose probably creates too many logistical problems for the Sharks. San Jose is on an East Coast trip, playing the Devils tonight, so I expect the NHL to tell Lou that the game must be played Thursday, even if half the team is borrowed from Bridgeport. I don't know if the Sharks have another East Coast trip planned, but if they don't, or if there's no free dates on a future trip, I doubt the NHL wants to force them to fly across the country just to play one game against the Islanders in April.

Tarasenko may get traded one day. Or maybe not. Nothing you do or keep incessantly posting on it nor anything I say about it matters. At all. So get that through you’re (frank)ing skull and (frank) off!

Most likely to the Rangers or Pens. They’ll probably be some divisional games and they’ll postpone them at four players or somewhere around that number.

Pens players who've had covid, or put in protocol, and missed time since season started:

Sid
Carter
Letang
Dumoulin
Petterson
Aston-Reese

The times the covid guys were missing they have also been without, due to injury:

Malkin
Rust
Matheson

Their whole 1st PP unit was missing for almost 2 weeks.

I mean, its definitely a big factor in where the Isles are at (currently)but with the best coach in the league (I honestly believe that) I still think its crazy they're in last,
despite the vid19 woes....but it wont last, they'll be on the rise soon enough, and other teams might have to go through this as well later in the season...very good chance of that.

We’re missing 5 of our 6 starting defenseman including our 1 and 2. Our two leading scorers. Our 2nd and 4th line centers and our captain. There’s not a team in the NHL that is going to win with most of their top 6 and five of their starting defenseman missing from the lineup. Trotz is one of the best but there’s nothing to work with I don’t care if he’s the reincarnation of Arbour. . Couple that with a depleted farm system it’s not exactly a recipe for success. I’m not happy with our regulars that are still in the lineups performance in all honesty but losing is expected.

I love this team and if any team can come back from this it’s them imo but I’ve accepted that the playoffs are most likely out of reach.

Let contracts of Chars, Parise & Greene expire so they can retire. Get a higher draft pick in what's supposed to be a deep draft, then see who is available and make a run at it next year. This team needs to get younger and faster. Also need guys who can put the puck in the net. Nobody is scoring. And I'm not talking about right now with the whole Covid stuff. Nobody has been scoring all season. Our player with the most points is Nelly with 11. That's 154th in the league. That's just not going to get it done. Whether the season is over is still to be determined. If they can squeak into the playoffs then they have a chance to make some noise. Otherwise, we try again next year. We still have one of the best GM's & coaches in the league, I'm gonna trust that they'll take the necessary steps to right the ship short-term & long-term.

Pretty much agree with everything here. Crappy situation but we’re in good hands as far as the future is concerned if we fall short this season. Haven’t given up all hope completely yet but it’s a pretty grim outlook.

Yup.

Fortunately, with the draft class looking like a 2015-sequel, they’ve poop the bed at exactly the right time.

100%. If we wind up draft watching let’s hope Lameriello doesn’t go for the second coming of Simon Holmstrom.

If we continue to lose when they start playing again we should definetely start to stockpile picks for this year... and more importantly.. 2023. If we can move a few guys to get seconds or 3rd so other teams can have some playoff depth.. then all of our guys on short term 1 or 2 year contracts should be moved (Parise, Greene, Clutterbuck, Panik Chara, Greene... I know I am kidding myself with last 2). If you can get picks for those guys u have to move them... then really think about moving guys like Varly, Bailey, Bellows, etc.) ... if you can somehow package a few picks and those guys to get a couple of 2023 firsts you need to make those trades. I would be doing all I can to get a few swings at that lottery.

We haven't had to have them since the Snow era. But when your team loses 8 straight in regulation, is in last place in the best division in the NHL, and is tied for the 2nd fewest points in the entire League, it's understandable..........excuses nothwithstanding.

Alas, my love for the Oil has faded into cold disinterest. No Islander losing streak could rekindle in me that once passionate flame.

Nope, but:

Andrew Gross @AGrossNewsday
46s
Adam Pelech also skated today for #Isles.

Game on for tomorrow though. Sounds like Lee and Bailey will be back.
