indeed, as much as Gallagher has been one of my favorite Habs for so many years, I have to agree with him to some extent, and if Suzuki keeps utilizing his skills and continues playing the way he has recently he might just be their next captain.

I definitely can understand your point of view, but I have to wonder, wouldn't we be putting way too much pressure on one single player? (and an especially young one) I like Suzuki, I truly do, but do we know for sure that he can handle this kind of pressure? Did he truly show leadership off the ice? Let's not forget how we all thought that Gallagher was the next captain when he was Suzuki's age.....Did Gallagher stop leading by example on the ice during that time? I would absolutely say no. The only thing that changed is that we've heard that he wasn't necessarily "captain material" when it came to his relationship with other players...Do we truly know that Suzuki is the type of leader that Gallagher isn't? They say that players see Gallagher like a younger brother.....do they truly see Suzuki as an older one? I just don't see any reason to risk putting extra weight on the shoulder of a guy who could potentially be a real first line center for the team.
As far as I'm concerned, I'd love to see MTL somehow find the space and sign Jonathan Toews this summer and possibly give him the C if it's a fit after a few months, but that's just pure fantasy based on 0 fact or even rumour lol.
