You're right why would we want to bother with stuff like sexual assault, cover up and lives being ruined.

Next time your wife or kid gets raped or assaulted well just hey cmon let's move on...nothing to see here.

hOW IS TALKING ABOUT HIS CASE GOING TO FIX IT? What does any of this have to do with me? And if something like that happened it would be my business to handle. Are you paying Beach legal fees, or contributing to the case at hand? Then it's not your business what's going on and when and who knew and didn't. Stop being couch detectives and let the people handle their own case. It's our time to focus on the product on the ice, and what they need to do better to get back to glory days of winning.

They have made announcements that they want to do better moving forward and that's all we can go off of, so just be a fan and accept things for what they are and let's move on. I don't see how knowing if Patrick Kane or Toews knew this or that and whether they are lying is going to put points on the board or pucks in the net. Let's just stop reliving the moment and not worry about it anymore and let the people who are involved in the case handle it. Nothing we say behind our computers will have any factor on the case that is going on.

Sounds like they are saving Fleury for the Blues. Wonder how he's feeling getting moved into a 1A/1B type scenario. Thought he was unhappy with that with Lehner in Vegas, but maybe he knew that's what he was getting here.

I think he like a lot of players just want to help the team win. As a competitor he's more concerned about how many pucks are getting past him more than anything else

Have you seen him in the bench, smiling chit chatting encouraging his team mates

How is us talking on a hockey forum going to help the case? What does any of what you said have to do with the case and how does that help the blackhawks focus on the games they have coming up? Are we just going to cancel the hawks season so they can strictly focus on the beach case? The NHL would never do that and it would be stupid. Be better and do better moving forward and let it go. It's like continuing with a joke that you've been told for several weeks is not funny anymore. Beating a dead horse.

Who cares! Let's move on from the negative and focus on the game at hand today and the on ice product.
- Hawk4life

I think a lot of people genuinely care. And, they have been allotted days in which to state their views. Not one thing wrong with that. Time now as fans, to watch a hockey game and then share opinions. Wasn't that the original intent of this board? DROP THE PUCK!!!

Forbes Legal Analyst

@EricMacramalla
1) At May 23, 2010 meeting the allegations advanced were of sexual harassment and not sexual assault (contrary to most reports). McDonough said he would handle (which he didn't).

2) Don't see criminal but do see possible civil liability for failure to warn (negligence, etc.)

- pdx2ord[dead] horse is out of the barn already, and the public understanding of point 1 is not that...however, for those of us trying to sift through all of this and decide how we feel, it was not a legally chargeable matter until Beach came forward with the facts of the sexual assault, and I believe that wasn't done officially until the court filings???

Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Not wrong, but it doesn't matter. Same as all the people still talking about how the Hawks provided references for Aldrich, when it has been stated multiple times now, even by Aldrich, that they hadn't.

It's also why with the lack of assault charges, if the cases ever went to court, in a legal sense, the Hawks would most likely win. However the court of public opinion and the poor optics mean that they will come to a settlement with Beach and pay whatever amount whether justified or not.

It's not meant to help the case. It's helping some ardent and long-time fans process this shocking development that has completely upended what we thought we knew about the team and the era of hockey in Chicago that holds/held a special place for us.

And, less than 72 hours later, there is still new information coming out that helps to put what we're thinking and feeling and believing into context.

NOTE: we've been talking about the issues on-ice and how to fix them for years now. I'm looking forward to talking about what we are seeing on the ice during the game tonight.

So, while it is clearly angering you, I'm sorry, but I am appreciating the opportunity to discuss this with a lot of people whose opinions on the Hawks I appreciate.

It’s funny you say this. Leaf fans were tripping over themselves the last few days to rub Hawk fans noses in the horrible events of 2010 and the cover up completely overlooking the far more disgusting and horrible events perpetrated by Gordon Stuckless.

The Maple Leaf Gardens sex scandal was beyond disgusting and horrible, with dozens of young victims affected:

https://apnews.com/articl...12376132473b2003b8b58f0d4

"Cliff Fletcher, president of the Gardens management company and general manager of the Maple Leafs, said police weren’t notified in 1993 because an investigation by a private detective was inconclusive.

"It couldn’t substantiate the allegations,″ Fletcher told the Toronto Star. "We thought at worst it was an isolated incident, if indeed it was a true incident.″

And yet Cliff Fletcher has continued to be employed by the Toronto Maple Leafs throughout the years and currently holds a position as a Senior Advisor.

As with any topic, people have opinions, and many fall on either side with the same general idea. Am I to assume that any poster that may happen to agree with you is just one of your aliases?

Im sure it's fine. Every large corporation has something going on internally like a lawsuit or what not. There is no perfect company out there. I imagine this has made a lot of changes internally, but time to focus on hockey.

Maybe. But 5? people have now lost their jobs and are potentially unemployable not just in Hockey but anywhere, because they are being held to a standard for something that while in hindsight was poor judgement, was not criminal on their part AND they may have not even had full knowledge of what happened. His parents did have full knowledge of what happened and? Wanna play the shoulda, coulda, woulda game.

I'm hoping that Jones, DBC, Murphy, etc. are looking at this as an opportunity to carve out a new identity, a new culture in the room, etc.

If Torts' take on Jones is legit, then he has the leadership chops to help make that happen. DBC is the silent (leads by example) but strong force to also contribute.

From the last blog.....

Today @ 1:12 PM ET
Not only did he have a bat, he had Beach’s career in the palm of his hand, or so Beach thought, add in that Beach wasn’t the brightest guy and I suspect very vulnerable, but mostly Beach is not you or me or any other poster who says “Beach should have ….”
- paulr

Isn't the same true for those who say "Q should have" or "Stan should have" or "player x should have"? That is the standard applied to everyone in the case.

- mohel

Very different I think. According to the report Q was dismissive of the event. Stan should have followed up once it was obvious nothing was being done. Yes McDonough was responsible to report and deal with the claim but others in Front Office leadership can’t just sit back and allow it to be swept under the rug.

This is a major headline story affecting lives and careers so yes it will be talked about for some time. It's not something that happens every day. You're quick dismissal shows little emphaty and no regards for the people who were affected. Sorry if peoples lives being destroyed is messing with your hockey but grow the (frank) up and have a little compassion but somehow I doubt that will happen.

It's pretty remarkable Phillips was a 5th-round pick just a year ago this month and his risen this far, this quickly.

He'll also become the first Team Jamaica hockey alum to play in the NHL

Isaak Phillips will make his NHL debut tonight. His parents flew from Toronto to Raleigh this morning to see it.

"It's just really exciting for me and my family."

- Chunk

Saw him play Oshawa a couple years ago. The only reason I remember him was he was a really great skater.

It went pear shaped when and because McD sat on it. It assured a bad situation became a worst case scenario manifest. So many hockey careers gone because of him by his inaction. In DIRECT opposition to his stated behavioral code of conduct mandate for the organization.
