Trade them for picks and then sign them in the summer. |

I've always been for this kind of thing but its extremely rare in the league. I know players have done it with other teams, even kind of recently, but at the moment I'm drawing blanks on who those players/teams were haha...

Oh it’s a joke. You absolutely keep Malkin. And outside of ridiculous demands you keep Letang as well. |

Yeah but if the Pens were going to miss playoffs by looks of it and Tanger and Geno were committed to coming back in summer, then let them go chase a cup with another team while filling our cupboards with assets.
So has a player been traded at the TDL and then came back to same team he was traded from, in the offseason? Or did I dream this... |

The solution has always been simple. Match them up with Sid and ride it out. |

If a couple is 2 and they weren't on him, there were only 4 against in total but most were his fault...your math is off haha...but I'm just nitpicking.
I will say though that he needs to be better and so does Jarry. Imagine this goaltending duo is what sinks the Pens in the regular season, not the skaters haha. Hex's head should be on a stake if so. I dont think there was a single person that posts here that wanted to ride the exact same goalie pair into this season again. - MattStrat
This isn't hard to imagine at all. For all the concerns about the Pens forward depth, it's far from their biggest problem.
They'll need a third line scorer if they want to pretend they can go deep. But if everyone was healthy and they had a bottom 6 of Carter, Blueger, ZAR, McGinn, Heinen, and O'Connor with ERod, Simon, and Zohorna behind them is that really bad?
I think goaltending, defense, coaching, and getting pushed around are all bigger concerns than forward depth. |

And we know this is what Malkin wants. A three year deal to match Sid. |

Goaltending is the biggest concern IMO. Maybe figuring out how to keep the PK out of the bottom of the league too. |

No I don't think that's bad at all and I agree with everything you've said here. I meant imagine it's the goalies from the stand point that they stood pat on the goalies and also that our forward depth, from the losing of McCann and Tanev, has been fairly heavily critized. |

I think Sid has a lot left, then next up would be Letang then Geno. Sids love for the game is much like Brady and he wants to win. I can see Sid being productive for a while. |

I'd feel a little better if they found a way to replace McCann. I'm also a little concerned about Matheson without Ceci. For however bad they may be apart, they were strong together. |

Tanger is still the best all around defenseman on the team, and compliments Dumo extremely well. I’d try to get something short term done first, but wouldn’t be opposed to signing him long term. If he’s willing to play out some pretty lean years with the team, I think it’s a no brainer.
I’d love to see Geno retire a Pen. I want to avoid the Jagr situation at all costs and actually see him stay with the team his entire career. I’m actually more concerned long term when it comes to Malkin with all of his injury concerns, but once again they should let him ride it out if he wants.
I think Sid’s almost a guarantee to retire a Pen, but like it was already pointed out earlier, he’s got a strong competitive drive like Brady and who thought he’d be playing out his final years with another team, let alone winning another championship with them. Anything’s possible. |

I hate the idea of letting either Malkin or Letang walk. Both players have been with this organization their whole careers and I want them to finish their careers here. If they have anything close to reasonable demands (which i expect both would), you sign them. enjoy the end of the ride, and then starting thinking about the future. |

Except Brady is a football player. Football is a game fat people play, not really a sport at all. Sid(any pro hockey player) > Brady. |

hahaha lots of amazing athletes in football, which is most definitely a sport, Grindy.
Now if by best athlete we mean physicality, like stamina and strength, I'm taking Sid over Brady any day. If we're talking rings and awards, then it goes to Brady.

This is where pre season games become even more irrelevant than normal. Detroit had a lineup last night that was at least halfway made up of regular season scratches and AHLers. |

How's their lineup this eve? I think its their last pre season game so I'd have to imagine it's going to be close starting night lineup?
