So if Janice and I vacation to Toronto and Vanessa sees me whilst infected with the Kung Flu and runs us over with her streetcar, does that make it 2 more Covid related deaths?

Lets hope so.

the vaccine may not completely stop the spread of the virus, but the vaccine will prevent you from ending up in the ICU with serious complications, or you know, dying..
- PatC80

Ministry of Health Minister Elliott publishes the Ontario COVID numbers every day.

Every day, the pattern is consistent:

Roughly about 10 to 1 ratio (unvaxxed to vaxxed) for hospitalization.

Roughly 20 to 1, sometimes as high as about 40 to 1 (unvaxxed to vaxxed) for ICU.

When you consider that almost 80% of the population is double-vaxxed right now, it skews those numbers waaaaaaaaay higher.

It's crystal franking clear.

I'd be interested in the study and how the conclusions are drawn. Since vaccinated people have fewer and milder symptoms, and also don't expect to be sick with COVID, they are more likely to be in a position to spread the virus should they have caught it rather than someone who is unvaccinated and more likely to exhibit stronger symptoms. Obviously there is an asymptomatic period for both when COVID is also spread unbeknownst to the ill person, but spreading it depends on interactions with people. When you couple that with an average number of 60 - 80% of the population being vaccinated, and it's a higher percentage typically in densely populated metropolitan areas, you're going to skew those numbers drastically.

Not a scientist, but looking at the ways most viruses and Corona viruses have transmitted themselves historically, being or not being vaccinated doesn't change your ability to transmit a virus - the recipient's immune system and exposure to the virus is always the largest contributing factor.

Unvaccinated can spread for 3/4 weeks, vaccinated for 3/4 days.

I think the rest is common sense from there regarding vaccines being an important tool in helping to curb the spread.

Since when has logic ever applied in a Maple Leafs thread? This is the same group that considers Robbie Earl the Leafs 45th best prospect.

actually, delta variant seems to be passed 'better' by the vaccinated than the unvaccinated.

i think this was published in nature last week.
if you're truly interested in a discussion on this - i can look up the article.

again -- increasing covid vaccine coverage rates with the aim to reduce transmission is not going to work

- MaximusAurelius

Yes please do b'c that's not what's been published by many other scientific researchers (eg. Lancet).

- Tee-Dot

Doesn't really matter, if Janice can get in the street car and run you over before you move off of the TRACK that it's on....you and Janice are slow in many ways.

If you are asking a question about reported Covid deaths....the CDC already made a ruling on some guy in Florida with Covid that died in a car crash and they stated NO it does not and will not count as a Covid related death.

So nice try being an inconsiderate douche about the amount of people that died from Covid. Way to go, hope your day sucks.
