I can't wait until October so we can see some fresh arguments in here about if a goal against the Leafs was the goalies fault or the D Man's fault or the winger/centre not picking up the man etc.....
I'm bored with the Dubas sucks / Dubas is good, Marner sucks / Marner is good, Reilly sucks / Reilly is good, Trade everyone / Trade nobody, arguments.
One thing I will say is I don't have a sense of panic like I'm reading from some about how critical BOGO was to the D-core and that because he walked the Leafs are screwed.
I am fine with the Leafs starting the season without a 'new Bogo' to give some of the kids a chance to sink or swim and then allow the brain trust to evaluate what they need to do in season / at the TDL and what they don't need to do.
The 'start the year without a BOGO' strategy resonates with me very much because I want and think most of the folks in here/ most Leaf fans in general are fine with a mediocre regular season where they make the playoffs but perhaps not too comfortably if the result is a deep playoff run.
Is it October yet?
Side note - anyone in Ontario having mens leauge hockey starting up soon? Mine should 'mid Oct' I'm being told but they have limited the # of players to 12 + a goalie. This sucks for my team as we have a core group of about 12 guys who are mostly older than alot of the league by 10-15 years aka - we have no legs by the 3rd period and lose because of it. We got smarter (or tried to) this year we brought back a 25 year old youngin' who played with us 2 years ago and can skate like the wind and he had 2 young, fast friends who wanted to play too. Now we will end up with maybe just one young, fast guy or none and get stomped in 3rd periods again because our goalie is old and also runs out of gas in the 3rd period.

Stop acting tough. You have no authority.
I’ll just have to ban every single post you make if you don’t listen

Yes I'm the goalie.
Le Sigh.

It’s always the goalies fault, stop blaming the old slow d-men 🤣

He's the guy they signed from the K, yeah?
I assume they guaranteed him an opportunity, at least. - GreatGigInTheSky
His point totals from the KHL don't jump out, he's obviously not a scorer. I believe he's waiver exempt so can send him down to the Marlies at will. I think he starts in the AHL,

Which begs the question... Was Dubas hiring Keefe a good idea... 🤔 - joel878
The specific discussion was about Dubas’ failure to make adjustments but anyway, the conversation has moved past that. I think overall hiring Keefe has been good. Somebody posted numbers on his record. I do think they were all rigid going into the playoffs, thinking that at some point what worked in the regular season was going to work in the playoffs.
I’m very interested to see if and how they come at things differently this year. I really believe they have to set up a playing style in the regular season that will work better in the playoffs. I personally think they can do it with the core they have - maybe with lines structured differently.

I mean Dvorak scored 52 goals in 59 games that season and was 19. Pretty reasonable to suggest he was probably a little better player than Marner at that time.

Kerfoot is a legit 3rd liner that can move up for short stints if need.
Hes been one of our most consistently good players in the playoffs - Fakepartofme
He's not a legit 3C. I don't mind him on 3LW but he is not ideal for the C position.

Ya I don’t disagree with the statement. I was at a lot of those games and they had tkachuk as their other winger. They just dominated and we’re racking up a ton of points.

If that's a legit quote, then-
Anyone with eyes could see that Marner and Tkachuk drove that team completely. Dvorak and Juolevi benefited greatly from them.

That’s a lot of goals. I bet Mitch mentioned it when he accepted his player of the year award that year.
