Goaltending and D got better this year but please, continue
- Zezel

Bogo was really solid for them last year, he’ll be missed.

Campbell and Mrazek are both unproven starters, so I don’t have as much faith in them as I do Freddy. We’ll see what happens.

I loved Freddy, but I'm optimistic about the G.

They definitely need to figure how to defend better as a team. I though Brodie and Muzzin were supposed to be those guys. The forwards have to help out more, but I agree that Rielly needs to work on that.

The question for me at this point is should they roll all season with him and let him walk for free or trade him?

Look at what Nurse signed for… 9.25 million per season… Rielly will be worth that easily with Nurse setting the value of d men.

No thanks, rather let someone like Liljegren take a first pairing minutes with PP time tbh.

Stick with Rielly and let him walk or move him early. That’s where I think the leafs stand with him.

Carolina is going to kill it this year.

I’m optimistic as well even though I’m a freddystan. Hopefully they’re both competitive enough to push each other to be great.

Yost is really saying the Leafs failure is a playoff failure. His last dance is about the possibility they miss in the playoffs again. His point, I think, is that you can't win in the playoffs without a solid bottom six, six good Dmen and quality goaltending.

So, if it is a last dance and it does not work, how do you change the character of the team to be more playoff competitive?

I don’t think Rielly is that good. Can he be? Yes… is he consistently? No.

Let the young guys take the offensive role and sign UFA’s who have strong points of shutting teams down

- Dozzer

Rielly was consistently the 3rd best defenceman on the team last year, making him the highest paid by a country mile is illogical. 🤮

Have to do better.

Liljegren worries me, I’m not sure he’ll ever make it to the big show. Sandin I can see being a top pairing guy though.

Nurse got paid too much, but also Makar got underpaid so who knows what Rielly could command. I’d be willing to go 8x8 with him. Someone will pay him that for sure. This year he’s going to explode because it’s a contract year.

Everyone said it couldn’t work. So far they’re right.

Gotta free up some money for the bottom six. In hindsight paying a 2C $11mil was a bad idea. If he didn’t get injured I think the Leafs win that round. But I can’t see them trading JT, MM, or AM so that leaves WN.

I don’t like how Dubas went about everything. So idk how they fix it.

I don't know is the right answer. Seems to be consensus that the Tavares signing may be problematic as a cap issue, regardless of how well he has played.

Leafs can coast to the playoffs based on the firepower of their top two lines.

Is there some way they can cut payroll on the cap, even by $3m, and go big at the deadline and load up on third line depth. If the can save $3m off the cap at the start of the season, they should be able to add $8m in salary depth at the deadline.

They are

And I smoked outside thankfully… never liked smoking inside or smoking while walking, etc. Quit for my two weeks stay in the hospital. I knew it was nothing more than a habit for me so I ended it this year to help flood it with positivity.

Then the damn leafs lost in the first round, almost went back to my neurosurgeon and asked him to remove more to kill my memory

- Dozzer

Yeah, Leafs almost made me start drinking hard again.

Had a stupid amount of rye and cokes that night and pissed all my teammates off in COD being absolutely useless to them. Only had two since, though.

Tkachuk, Batherson, Watson, 1st for Nylander, Robertson, Liljegren, Engvall, 2nd.

0% chance this management team would trade for a wife beater.

Great TSN article by Travis Yost. Looks at possibility that this might be last dance year for Leafs. Points out that as the top of the line up has taken up more of the cap dollars, bottom six forwards, defence and goaltending have all gotten weaker every year for the last three years.

https://www.tsn.ca/toront...-leafs-playoffs-1.1684919

It does raise the question that if the Leafs stumble again this year, how do they begin to realign the imbalance in their salary structure?

- spatso

That in itself makes absolutely no sense.

You spin your own narrative as fact and talk down to anyone who doesn't agree. This is why you have such a hard time on here...

Just because you've decided what was reported makes willie an anti-vaxxer does not make him an anti-vaxxer.

We’re in London so we have neighbours who hit the reserve close to the city and can grab a carton of smokes for $25

Thankfully I’m not allowed to drive due to epilepsy or I might have tried that myself lol

That’s not true at all. I speak my opinion, if you don’t like it then try to argue against it. I don’t have a hard time at all, there’s just a select few on here who attempt to bully, and use language I don’t agree with.

If the Leafs wouldn’t take Watson because he’s allegedly been involved in a domestic dispute then that’s someone’s opinion. It’s my opinion that if they have someone on the team who refuses to get vaccinated, is it really that big of difference when it comes to ethical standards?

All I’ve done is comment on stories that have been reported, don’t get mad at me for speaking my opinion on it, try to dispute it or give an alternative POV.

All you've done is obsess about it because you know people are annoyed when you bring it up several times a day.

Playing innocent here is a bad look. You're being a troll, just admit it and move on to becoming something better on these boards.

You're so hard to like..

When you say they allow an anti-vaxxer on the team, you're expressing that as fact not opinion. An opinion would be "I think he might be an anti-vaxxer because of...". Fact is "he's an anti-vaxxer". That's the difference.

When you regularly state things as fact that aren't fact, you drive people to point out that it's not fact... And you don't get to project yourself as a victim as a result. It doesn't work that way.

That’s not true at all, HOHO.

If I bring something up that people don’t like, I don’t do it to annoy anyone. You’re not going to bully me (although you guys try everyday) into agreeing with you on every point. Idk why this is so concerning to you and the other 4 posters who struggle with having a respectful, cordial discussion about almost anything.

It’s not my concern if you don't like me. You F5’s tell me everyday that “everyone” hates me. That’s pretty gross, just on a personal level. I don’t think I could speak to someone like that but whatever, you do you. I’m not a troll because I have different opinions, we don’t all have to agree on every single point.
