Hollands a proven winner, unfortunately that's years ago. As a Flames fan I think they should give him free reign this year and hope for the best. Kevin Lowe knows a thing or two about winning, not sure why else he is still employed.
What year is the rebuild going into? |

The bear trade was where I finally gave up. No idea what they were thinking. |

Edmonton still likely wants to sign another bottom six winger, a left shot defenseman who plays a more physical game and explore the trade market for a way to deal Koskinen and acquire a different netminder.
This should work. deHaan, Connolly, and Subban for Koskinen and Turris. Maybe Hawks retain some salary to even the $. lol |
|
|
|
Why did they trade bear? I thought he was part of long term core. Who is expected to replace him (and Larson)? |

Umm is the LTIR money from kleff not going straight towards our 4 RFA's? Pretty sure. Think we may have around 1 mil only. |

I think the Oilers jump all over that one, especially after stealing Keith from Chicago. |

How is signing a player that you've never even seen play on your own team to a contract extension a good idea when you paid Ethan Bear for him (a homegrown defensemen with tons of upside that checks all the boxes for the very thing the team currently lacks)?
Am I missing something here? |

How is not signing the guy you gave up an asset for to an extension a bad idea? You traded Bear for McLovin and McLovin didn't have any years left on his contract, he was a RFA. Should they have not signed him to his RFA contract extension and let Bear go for nothing?
Is that what you are missing? |

didn't Giordano just play his first game in May? Talk about wasting a guys career. Calgary is the team that refuses to rebuild and accept what they are. They honestly thought they were a playoff team this year and still do. |

They were the most Vanilla team in the league. That has now changed, and so far they have not given up talent to make it happen. Still need more size in the top 6 but its I like the way things are going.
Chances are they still finish 14-18. |

There is no over value of bear there. Bear was second best d man behind nurse and they traded him for a third line winger. It's a terrible trade and you're wrong/arrogant/dumb |

Holland has completely wasted the long awaited cap-space, while at the same time he has miraculously managed to make Chiarelli look efficient.
Zach Hyman - $5.5 million AAV
A significant overpay for a slow checking winger with an untreatable MCL issue.
Duncan Keith - $5.5 million AAV
A significant overpay for a 38 year old defenseman in the post-steroid era. At best he is a 5/6 defenceman.
Cody Ceci - $3.25 million AAV
A significant overpay for an AHL level talent. Perhaps Holland acquired him to make Keith appear somewhat competent.
Warren Foegele - $2.75 million AAV
An overpay for a respectable bottom 6 player. During the Covid era, similar players are routinely signing for $1 million.
Holland somehow managed to spent $17 million to acquire these 4 mediocre players. This is more than twice the actual value of these skaters. |

They thought ttey had drafted enough talent when Treliving traded for Hamonic, terrible trade especially after getting Hamilton in a good trade. They refused to admit their mistake.
Management has never been smart enough to finish so low as to get a 1oa pick, let alone 4
Flames ownership is too cheap to rebuild, they want revenue from a 1st round loss. They've been watching up north and don't like the 12 year rebuild, too hard on their pocketbooks. |

How many times in that 12 year rebuild have the flames made it while their neighbors haven't? |

More importantly is how many times have the Oilers faithful have nothing to look forward to by December but the entry draft?
Thank goodness for Kevin Lowe! |
