Reposting from last blog:
I don’t think they trade either Nils or Schneider right now. I think they want to see a year of both and whoever is having the better year will be with the big club while the other logs minutes in the A. They’re both too promising. Find a 3C that can take faceoffs that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
In a way it’s a continuation of the rebuild. They reform their style of play, while not parting with anything significant for the future until there are more answers.
I know this differs from the implied marching orders from Dolan, but the team is definitely more difficult to play against right now which checks a box.
Probably wrong, just thinking out loud. Hopefully today is fun |

I think Buffalo's owners keep the Rangers' proposal on the table, but they want a vast overpayment to trade Eichel within the Eastern Conference. They'd reportedly take less to send him out West. It's a dumb strategy (i.e., always take the best offer no matter who it comes from), unless they truly think they can bait the Rangers into that overpayment. Apparently, Eichel still needs surgery, but he and the Sabres remain divided over which surgery they will sign off on. If true, the Rangers should walk away. |

I’d love if they signed Ritchie. A 3rd line of Kreider Goodrow Ritchie would be a nightmare for opposing teams. Ritchie was on pace for 21 goals and 38 pts which is what he’s averaged over the past 3 years. He wouldn’t be on the 4th line. |

Taxes, taxes, taxes...
I know that many here are a bit down over the trade of Buch and his subsequent signing with the Blues for an AAV of $5.8 million.
Consider this though:
He may have rejected $5.8 mill/year from the Rangers due to TAXES!
Missouri tax rate is 5.4%
NYC + NY State tax rate is 14.176%
Federal tax remains the same for both states.
So I am not convinced Buch would have re-signed with the Rangers for less than $6 million anyway. Just something to consider when guys claim we overpaid Goodrow too. |

Could be completely wrong but it’s feels like to me that if Vegas gets Eichel, the Rangers get Danault.
If the Rangers get Eichel, Vegas gets Danault.
That’s my prediction.

I know Danault's game is centered around defense and faceoffs, and he has had better offensive numbers in the past, but it's hard to give him that much money against the cap with his paltry production in 2020-21. |

Although I'll admit Danault's a better result than the Rangers getting Kadri to fill a middle-six center position. That gives me the douche chills. |

One good thing about Danault though would be a French Canadian mentor for Lafreniere and he’s a leader. |

I know everyone wants Lafreniere on top line, but who knows what Gallant will do. Kreider has put up 20+ goals every year and is still a top 6 winger. Don’t be so sure he’s not back with Zib, especially with Buch gone. |

Lafreniere could switch to right wing
I wouldn't count that out at all

The expectation once finalized is that UFA D Tony DeAngelo will sign for $1 million on a one-year deal with Carolina. |

Lol no. Mantha signed 4 x 5.7m last summer. That was the direct comparable. |

I still think it’s Eichel. When is the next time Rangers will have a chance at a 24 year old top 10 center in the league |

The thing that scares me about Danult, If you sign him for 6 million a year you are basically committed to him as your 2nd line center as you try to contend. I just don’t know if his game produces enough to justify that. |

Thats exactly my concern. Theres no doubt his defense alone is worth about 4.5m, but the added 2m to be Panarin’s center has me concerned cause his numbers are so sparce. |

My hope is the Rangers sign Nemeth today.
I prefer no trades at all this summer and let's just see what the new additions, (Goodrow, Blais and Nemeth) and Howden, Blackwell and Buchnevich's departures bring next season.
Gallant may motivate our current roster and our team may excel currently as is.
Forget Eichel and Danault. Save the money for our core players and let's see what we got.
We may be pleasantly surprised. |

If you could somehow get him as the 3rd line center then your talking, but seems like he wants too much money |

As Ive said, Im cool with them riding out Strome as the 2C, but I want a bonafide, youngish 3C instead of Chytil (aka Dvorak). |

If Eichel's health wasn't an issue, I'd be all for signing him, but that isn't the case. Im on board for Zib, Strome, Goodrow, Rooney at Center. If they move Strome and Chytil can take over as a 2C, that would be great. Keep the xtra $$ and go all in next offseason when the youngsters get a full "regular" regular season under their belt
