One reason NoPa may have said concussion and not migraine issue: he has a new agent, new team, and new fan base. Concussion talk seems like it’s in the past vs migraine issues sounds like an ongoing issue or that it still exists. Regardless, Not our problem anymore. |

Leight but ... Imagine NYR paying 22m for two players.
That would be a quarter of their entire cap on eichel and panarin. I'm all for NYR doing that! - Bob Habib
As last ng as those 2 players actually produce? You're good.
It gets real tenuous when you make that 33million for 3 players like Toronto does, and Colorado WILL. |

Toronto actually had a very solid roster this year, unfortunate that Tavares got injured and their two $10M men left didn’t produce. The rest of the team was not this issue. |

I doubt he leaves Anaheim but would you look at Getzlaf as an option for the 3c role? I know he is 36 but could he slot in on the 3rd line and bring some PP production. Kind of like a role Spezza played in Toronto. Give you 30-40 points. I don't want to go into next season as counting on Frost to be my c if not ready and I prefer Laughton on the wing. |

on one hand people take patrick at his word about concussion rather than migraine. then some of those same people don't take ellis at his word about his shoulder.
it's amazing. |

Much better off keeping the spot open. If Frost doesn't seize it, then Laughton is the fall back. They need to give opportunities for younger players and I doubt that Getzlaf would be happy being bumped to the 4th line. Let's get younger, not older.

There is no legitimate reason why the team would lie about his condition. In fact, if they did, the league would come down heavy on them for it. Especially with all the lawsuits and stuff going on and people want to accuse the team of covering up a concussion?

No. Couturier has scored 30 goals twice in ten seasons. No question we need him to win but over Jack Eichel, c’mon!
I’ll put it this way. I understand Jack Eichel hasn’t single handedly put Buffalo over the top but neither has Connor McDavid. If had to choose a player to build your team around, your answer will obviously be McDavid. Eichel vs Couturier, hands down for me, it’s Eichel. Eichel is doing his job in Buffalo and he’d be the number one guy anywhere in the league. Couturier wouldn’t be. - SuperSchennBros
anywhere? you just named one spot he wouldn't be. there are several other teams he wouldn't be either. again, not poopting on eichel. i think he's really good. just not as good as some people are making him out to be. |

It's very simple. Whatever viewpoint is critical of the team.

I couldn’t help but laugh…
During NoPa’s interview he mentioned missing 18 months with concussion. The media doesn’t ask about it again.
Question #2 for Ellis is about his shoulder injury, says he shattered a knuckle. 3 more questions are asked about his shoulder / the injury throughout his introduction presser. Philly media, man. |

I agree we should move on, but I am politely but strongly skeptical of your premise that a PCS related 1+ year absence is more optimistic about future playing chances than a family migraine history.
The former implies the guy could be 1 hit away from a 2+ year gap. The latter implies a condition zillions of people manage daily without missing work and which has finally been brought under control.
If I were NoPa, and wanted to just allay concerns to new fan base, I would have stuck to migraines and said it was under control now. |

If it was person against person, sure, it would be silly.
But if you realize that one person is contradicting a story that was issued at the time he was Flyers property, and another is changing a public perception once he becomes Flyers property, then the belief and disbelief become two sides of the same coin, and logically consistent.

Here's the thing. It's not exactly lying, but it's not exactly the truth either. It's all so silly and deep down we all know what's going on. Patrick had several concussions followed by an entire season missed because of migraines. You don't have to be a doctor to put things together. I'm sure any doctor worth a damn would tell Patrick he should not step on the ice again. The reality is that everyone is complicit in here. Patrick (the players) wants to play in the NHL. He's so motivated (by money? fame? glory?) to be in the NHL that he's willing to risk (frank)ing up his brain for it. The NHL (teams, owners, GM, etc.) are willing to let a kids scramble his brains as long as they get their money, glory, fame, whatever. So pro teams (and players) find the doctors, who are willing to overlook the real danger to their patients if it means they can keep their high prestige clientele and the money, glory, fame. Really, we are all complicit in this and if you (not you specifically MJL) have an issue with it, put your money where your mouth is and stop supporting it. |

One point. How do we know what the Doctors have told Patrick? Do we know if Doctors have recommended to Patrick to stop playing due to the risks? Are there long term risks high enough that he should stop playing?
We have posters who want to play doctor on the internet. (Not you)
