i wouldn't call the hit late. never really got a good camera shot to see if scheifele ever broke stride and everything was made worse because evans was in no position to protect himself because he was trying to score. the puck going in and the hit at pretty much the same time. As far as both players being committed to their actions.
doesn't help that scheifele was looking like an ass most of the night so that won't help perceptions.

There was an angle from behind the net. Scheif starts from his own blue line, full speed, but he stops skating around the hash marks. Still charging, regardless, and he knows what the outcome is going to be. If Jake was closer the the boards...I would hate to know what could have happened.
