I'm confused GMRW. Are you suggesting that we should have Sprong right now and not Kapanen? Or was it just a comparison? I'm also glad you acknowledged your boyfriend Letang's enormous and almost crucial gaffe last night. That's very unlike you. |

Seems to me he was simply opining on Sprong because he’s a former Penguin and showing how good he’s doing by comparing him to Kap. |

Sprong fell out of favor with HCMS, so did Ian Cole, so did Dominick Kahun... Do I need to mention Kessel? |

Its crazy to me, really. They were arguably the best team in the league from around the half point on to the shut down last season and started this season pretty damn strong. I thought before the season started they had a better chance at playoffs than the Pens. - MattStrat
Goalie imploded and their answer to losing Niskanen, who was basically their Dumoulin, was to sign Gustafson.
We've seen here the ripple effect when Dumo is out. Same thing there. They desperately need a top RD. That and a bounce back from Hart and they should be back in the mix. |

There's also the Zohan. - Rinosaur
Are we talking about things that might be a good idea or things that Sully might actually do. Zohorna in might be the former, don't think it has a chance of happening without massive injuries again. |

Gamble paying off well for Florida. I think most everyone was intrigued by him at sone point. So much talent, but so inconsistent. Bennett is getting his shot, but needs to prove it over a longer period of time. |

He will bring that up because he sees Sprong as a mismanaged player, which I agree with, and he gets to say I told you so.
I don't read the blogs much, but I wonder if he'll say he was wrong for saying Kapanen was never going to be a top 6 guy when he praises him. |

I’ve been really impressed with Kapanen’s play coming back from injury with no Malkin. One thing to always worry about when middle six or bottom 4 defensemen all of a sudden start preforming like legit top 6 or top 4 guys is whether if they took an actual jump or just have incredible chemistry with a specific linemate(s) and will go back to being mediocre when that line is broken up. Since lines are generally fluid, you don’t want to over-invest in those kinds of players. But in the Kapanen case it seems like he’s just flat out good.
I think it’s definitely possible Rutherford could have gotten Kapanen for cheaper given that pretty much everyone was laughing at Dubas’ 1st round pick demand for him and we made the trade super early in the offseason, but even if that’s the case, the trade has been good value. Would not take it back. I don’t think we could have realistically gotten better value out of a 1st and non-blue chip prospect package than a top 6 forward producing at Kapanen’s 5v5 clip. |

Agreed, the price GMJR paid was bad because he gave up what it would cost if Kapanen was a proven top 6 before he proved it. I thought there was a good chance he could be, but if you're taking that chance, you want to be getting guys like that for a little less.
Thus far it looks as though it will work out. It was just a poor use of assets to pay for the breakout before it happened. But if this is the Kapanen we get, good trade. |

Just talking about someone to fill in on the 4th line in ERod's absence.

I'm hoping Malkin takes that line-up spot. Not sure where Gaudreau plays but I'd like him to stay in. Just don't know if he plays a wing, but probably.
I think Sully will play Sceviour or Lafferty at LW before Zohorna. If Blueger is at 4C, he'll want shutdown guys, and ZAR might move down with him to 4 LW anyways. |

Brian Burke was on the radio 93.7 the fan and said that Malkin will probably NOT play tomorrow against the Caps. I thought he was ready but according to Burkie NOT |

I missed the Burke interview with Cooke. I think Cooke said Malkin will likely return against Philly. Not sure if anyone can verify that. |

Why would you play Malkin against Caps and risk Wilson taking a cheap shot on him, knocking him out again? Yeah I know, Philly can be pretty damn dirty too, but few are on the level as Wilson these days... |
