Someone suggested if we get Ekholm, then trade Rielly for Lehner - Canada Cup
Isn't he buried next to Muzzin?
But, in theory, I'd be onboard with a plan that stacked the D now with the idea of moving Rielly for youth/picks before the expansion draft.
I'd defer to my more statistically inclined colleagues but Rielly has been losing his lustre for me. He's great ...but this summer may be a good time to sell high before he locks into a 8+ per kind of deal. |

If Vegas would do it then I would too. Also if Lehner was healthy.

Offseason. Exhume the body, have Max perform some Andalusian return from the dead ceremony, and boom |

Forgive me for asking, but why do we want Lehner?
Call me old fashioned, but I believe that any goalie you trade for should have a sv% above .900 |

He has played well in recent years. Long term goalie at 5 million bucks.
Who would you target?

I think he's going to be convicted of a lesser charge like manslaughter. Maybe not even that.
Keep in mind, I'm not happy about it.
But the law is the law (as you know), and the defence is going to say that a drugged up guy was resisting arrest, and the cop was trying to restrain him until it was safe to transport him.
There were drugs in his system.
He had prior arrests.
If you say "I can't breathe" you can breathe.
Cops have huge leeway in the US.
It's like the Breonna Taylor case: it's actually legal for cops to shoot into an apartment if they are enforcing a search warrant.
It's not right.
But it's legal. - Atomic Wedgie
Fair ...but my thoughts ..
Politics isn't on his side right now. Lots of pressure to get a murder charge. He already offered the DA to plead guilty to 3rd degree murder and the DA refused. They want 2nd degree murder. I think both sides know where this is going to end and typically they'd have resolved it without a trial but the trial itself means too much.
Taylor - It's still under investigation IIRC. The one cop was fired and I believe the state still has an open investigation into that cop (the one who quickly ran around the back and fired a dozen+ bullets blindly into a sliding door/window). I could be wrong but that was from the NYT Netflix piece we watch a few weeks ago. |

I would rather have Ullmark.

I do like the idea of getting another injury-prone goalie.
It's a great way to juggle the cap. Have 7 goalies making a combined $40 million - but only two of them will actually be active at any time. |

That’s before being shut down for injury. His last two seasons he had .930 in NYI and .940 and .918 split between Chi and VGK |

Video is very powerful evidence especially when backed up by so many civilian witnesses who were screaming (you can hear them) “stop, you’re killing him”. They don’t have to prove he intended to kill him for the most significant charge which would bring 40 years. |

Who the (frank) suggested that? A goalie should NEVER have the value of a top pair D. And Lehner's season is a concerning.
The goal shouldn't be to add a good top 4 D to subtract Rielly. That's dumb. Ullmark would cost nothing close to that and would be better right now than Lehner
If Rielly is moved I want way more than Lehner. Goalies have poop value. And Lehner ain't getting his top spot back this year from Fleury |

I was always a fan of his,. but his injury and reports he was really fat at camp concern me. He also has 4 years left after this one. I'm not sure there's a point to ever signing a goalie that long aside from 2-3 in the NHL |

Ullmark is the guy to get. And he still won't cost that much to get. He's a goalie and very few teams have that need

I think you're overly criticizing someone for not knowing the full story. It wasn't me but im clever enough to understand someone more than likely means trade Rielly for picks/prospects and trade something for Lehner. Not a 1 for 1.

I'm not sure why we'd give up assets for Ekholm, only to lose Rielly and then acquire an injured fat goalie with 4 years left when there are better cheaper options out there.
Acquire Ekholm, keep Rielly, trade for Ullmark. |

You won’t be able to afford both defencemen. Why don’t we want to find a goalie with some term, if not Lehner? |

It’s the conviction that matters. I still can’t wrap my ahead around the fact that something like 80% of people in US prisons are there without trial. |
