They paid him $7.5 Million signing bonus before the season so his actual salary for the season is $2.5 million. If and when they trade him it will be in the off-season.

Yeah but he's due $10M next season, then another $7.5M bonus, then $10M, $10M, $7M, and $5M the rest of the deal. Nobody is paying that for the zero goals he's produced so far. Buffalo would have to eat a substantial portion of that deal or take back a ton of money.

Still a bit confused why 3 different teams would admit to asking about Eichjel and then reveal to Ek that the Sabres weren't listening??

No no. 3 teams asked Ek to ask Adams and he wasn’t listening.

Why would they at all this season. Right now they should be shopping Hall and Skinner to a contender. They also be looking how they can offload Okposo's contract. Kind of like a David Backes situation.
- glove_was_stuck

What contending team is going to take Skinner and his massive contract? This is also nothing like the David Backes situation. The Bruins were a contending team that needed cap space to add maybe the missing piece, and gave up assets to get it done.

The Sabres are a mess. They probably need a combination of a new coach, an experienced GM, someone that knows something about hockey to be in charge of the hockey operation, and and some roster changes (possibly major changes). They probably need all 4 of these things to happen. Until some of these things are fixed, the last thing this team should be thinking about is trading away future assets to get rid of Okposo.

We all know Jack Eichjel is the one that really calls the shots so Ek just talked to him and said it was 3 other teams.

IF I were the Sabres I sure as hell wouldn’t be listening to offers on Eichjel yet either. He’s a Hybrid of Matthews/McDavid/Crosby.

Despite him playing on one of the worst teams in the NHL his value is through the room. I would however be listening to any offers on Eichel. I hear contract talks with Dougie in Carolina aren’t going well. Maybe call them and build a package?

Or call Pitt , get Malkin. Buffalo is no Nashville but Malkin can finally be the man.

Stranger things have happened. The Bruins were able to shed contracts like Backes and Belesky. You'll never get what you think Skinner maybe worth but I find it hard to believe that there isn't a team out that would consider Skinner. Worse players have been dealt for a 1st rounder. See Kase, Ondrej

The Sabres are going to continue to tread water until they get competent ownership and hire competent hockey minds. The Sabres are a Bob Dylan song these days, Tangeled Up In Blue.

I don't think you understand the way that trade breaks down. The Bruins didn't trade a first for Kase, they had to add a first for the Ducks to take Backes contract. Just like the leafs had to add a first to get rid of Marleau. Take a look on what is left on those contracts and then look at Skinner. The Sabres aren't getting anything for Skinner. To get rid of Skinner, buffalo will need to give up assets and probably retain a good portion.

You really are drunk. In the first paragraph you say you wouldn’t be listening to offers then in the second you say you would...

Also what does his value is through the room mean?

And he is no hybrid of the players you mentioned.
