I don’t know how I missed this originally, but it’s a pretty good encapsulation of how bad the Jets are - Rexypoo
I’m puzzled as to why Jets fans think their team is so bad when they have a .675 winning percentage.

Because goaltending is one hell of a drug. It’s all Helle and shooting percentage from the forwards. If either starts to drop, the house of cards comes down |

It’s more some us know we can be sooo much better!!
Maurice’s horrible systems have us getting out shot every game and completely depending on Helle.
Heinola is more than ready to be a top D on this team but our coach prefers he stay on the Moose and overplay Beaulieu who shouldn’t be in the NHL. Samberg and Stanley are also better than some of our D playing.
Same goes for playing Thompson and Lewis over young guys like Harkins, Gustafson and Vesalainen.
Our power play is stagnant and our coach refuses to make any changes. He has PLD and Ehlers glued to the 2nd unit which gets minimal PP time

I’m very hard on Maurice but glad he is rolling three forwards to start OT. So slight hat tip at least for that. |

Just because three forwards in OT worked against the Habs, does not mean it will work against good teams |

It may or may not, the Jets have bigger underlying issues than OT deployment. |

I guess we’ll see if three forwards continues to work. It’s just nice to see a coach who has the yarbles to think out of the box and try something different. One thing for sure. If it is successful you’ll see more of it in this copy cat league which has many followers and very few leaders. |

Always the troll. The Jets could be 22-0 and Rexy would still say nothing but negative things.

I get that Rexy could sprinkle in some
Positives once in a while, me to for that matter. But you have to admit, getting outshot 40-20, 85% of the time is not sustainable. Can you admit that? |

Definitely not. It's the style of game that the Jets play where they are willing to give up shots from the outside. Toronto and Edmonton play the same style. Its also a bit of playing the long game where it requires somewhat less effort on the Jets part which leads to the great third periods. BTW...the Jets are outshot this season by an average of 2.2 shots per game so your severely exaggerating the supposed problem Ross.
I don't think its a coincidence that the three top teams in the Canadian division all play the same style of giving up more shots than they take. Toronto, Edmonton, and Jets have won 9, 7,and 6 games respectively where they were outshot this season. Conversely the Jets won 7 games where they outshot opponents. Not a big difference here. Somewhat statisitcally insignificant actually.

Unfortunately if you take away Helly the Jets would not have the record they do now. As a fan its horrible to watch the Jets play long periods of games hemmed in their own zone letting their goalies get blasted by shots from very angle. It takes one or two misplays by the goalie and they lose the game. What's frustrating is that reporters of the Jets never question Maurice about the Jets lack of any defensive system, breakout, physicality in their own end and refusal to address poor play of any veteran. If they come close to suggesting there is a problem Maurice just turns on the charm and sweet talks his way around any question. This talented team is flawed and it will be exposed against any of the top teams in the league. |

I think the Jets are the top dogs in the North. They have the size, speed, and strength to wear anybody down over a 7 game series. They have the best goalie in the North, and if PLD is still playing LW, they have the best Wingers in the league. (Connor/Ehlers/PLD/Wheeler/Copp/Appleton...... That is incredible. Pionk/Forbort are getting the job done. Considering they spend the bulk of the season without Raslovic/Laine/Dubois, they have done excellent. |

This team is built to win a Stanley Cup and they should have no problems with this division. All the teams in it are defensively inept. PLD should be back at center and this team should be the one dictating play and not the other way around.

The media does not ask critical questions for if they do, the team will start blocking the media’s access to its players. This is true for every market, especially Canadian markets. Read all the stories that local media write about their teams. If you do that you will realize that no media in this country critically looks at the teams it covers. |

It seems the media in this country doesn't criticize much of anything. Although, in their defense, Ken Weibe asked a decent question to start off the presser yesterday and PoMo shut him down asap.

We are not a fanbase that is comfortable being the top dog, sometimes maybe with the bombers (thinking about swaggerville and with the 80's/90's team). We seem more comfortable having the plucky, hard working lunch pail crew that wins games they are not supposed to and over-achieves once in a while. The 13-6-1 record doesn't excite anyone because our favourite player didn't get enough ice time. Or its all on the goalie because we were outshot. Everyone wants success on their own terms - league standings be damned.
There was more excitement about the Jets when they were predicted to fail in 2017/18 and did very well. Many would rather see a young player who might excel rather than an established player who is getting the job done. We fans are so pathetic - can we trade a bucket full of haters for fans that are more comfortable winning games? |

Neal Pionk was just quoted as saying " we can not continue to play like this and get out shot. it is not sustainable"
lol
I have to ask if anyone in here will now call Neal, "not a real fan"? |

I agree. This team has all the pieces. It seems like every winning team somehow has that #1 D that really controls the play at both ends of the ice. Jets don't have a Hedman, if they did, they could start planning the parade. But I do think their forward depth is the best in the league, and the D core is solid. Helle has been nothing short of great again, and this is absolutely an easier road to the Stanley cup than their previous division. A team like Minnie will be trying their best to sell players and free up cap space. I could Dumba being a perfect pairing on the top unit with Jomo.
